All,

Im wanting to upgrade my turbo and Im thinking a 64mm/74mm turbine with a T3 houring would be a good pick. I plan on keeping the motor stock, so Im not sure how this turbo would act with stock injectors and a healthy stock Cp3. I could always go to 30 or 45% injectors if I want more power.

Are there any potential issues running a turbo like that? All mods are in my sig. Thanks.

Should be sweet, I've seen a 66/73 t3 make 630 rwhp on Randall's super flow with 80% injectors and a 10mm cp3, that'd be 700 rwhp on Danville's. Tuning wasn't maxed out either.

So i gotta throw rods in too, no big deal ;) That would suck but im sure some have failed.
more have failed than not at that HP level.

on a budget build... id be more comfortable with ~600hp with LBZ/LMM rods than LB7/LLY.. the latter its a lot faster ticking time bomb

the 64/77 T3 .85 BB I got on mine is very nice... im sure its going to like the extra ~8ci I just added to the displacement :D

FWIW there couple guys selling LBZ/LMM rods/parts

Thanks for the links, Rods would be a worthwhile investment. I just know I couldnt do that job myself. No clue what it would cost in labor to them out.

I still want to upgrade the turbo, I my just keep the fuel system stock because I know im already close to rod limits.

Im sure your new motor will make that 64 spool quick haha.

that's best thing to do... I drove my old LB7 around on basically a hot tow tune 90% of the time... roughly 400-425 rwhp I had a DSP2 in it.. "everything" tune and a "all out tune"

~1000.00 in gaskets and consumables (mainly TTY bolts), plus rods cost, balance, got charged 300.00 for mine to be balanced..

lead times are the PITA with shops.. they did all my stuff between Tuesday to 10 am Friday morning had a 5-6 work day lead time though...

Wow, what did you get charged for labor/time? Ifs it's managable I may do that to avoid imploding a good motor.

I tear/assembling it myself.. machine work I farm out.. save a lot of labor that way..

for some someone that familiar with engines..
usually 4-5 hours to pull engine or install engine
6-8 to strip the engine or assemble
plus X hours cleaning/ inspecting parts

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. I need to consider doing rods

I would do a T4 over a T3.
If you want quick spooling I'd lean towards a 63/68 T4 0.91 A/R
If you're okay with a little more lag then a 66/71 or 73 T4 0.91 A/R would be a good option for more power.

Pedestal selection is an important factor too. BD=Bad HTT=Good

I think the 66/71/14 t3 is a great option for a daily driver wanting 600hp. Runs and drives nice and being gated you can be sure to keep boost safe on a stock motor. With that said, the modified ihi stuff works really well also and is a little less involved when it comes time to install.
