I can not blame Tom. People think its cheap and easy to make power with these motors. There are so many nickel and dime items that bring a guy down quick that no one mentions. Then you have all these ass monkeys online comparing dyno numbers witch is STUPID. No dyno reads the same, no one puts corrected or uncorrected, and no one puts if its to rear wheels or crank. So how can you compare? I would like to see the trucks stock numbers on the same dyno. I made the mistake with my old 7.3 when I tried to believe kids on forums. Truck was to the point where I could not afford to fix it when it broke. People need to realize that most of the bad ass trucks on here are not daily drivers or the owner has a reliable back up vehicle.

That's why I mention everything:D
Dyno s are kinda a glory shot "moment" not to be confused with driving down the highway or strip, although I did like the AWD dyno run of a simulated 1/4mi w/ boosted launch that the alligator guys posted:thumb:
I split my miles between the truck and this "my back up"

Sometimes you guys are too hard on coco puff. He's got the general idea.

No you don't HAVE to have a trans cooler. I'm still on a stock one and am at or above 600 when I want to be.

Getting to 600 isn't hard, it's making everything live after that..

Can't blame em James, I've said and continue to say stupid shit:rofl: but yeah, I'm figurin it out in my own time
I have however put together a pretty trick truck in the time I have been here, thanks for all the advise guys, I have had a built trans tune on my lbz advertised at +230whp for 26kmiles, 12k have had a 4094avant, and the truck is still going strong(knock on wood) tuned it at 124k it's got 152k, still has the stock injectors and cp3(waiting to be replaced with 60's and a 12mm cp3)
So for not knowin much I feel like I'm doin pretty well so far, ehh beginners luck....maybe

But could you PLEASE stop giving advice until you do "figure it out"? Good Lord, the damage you and Mr Knight are causing around here is crazy.

What's up with all the noob's and uneducated advice?

I read the forums multiple times a day (a lot actually) and post very little in comparison because I enjoy reading the posts from the guys who have the real experience making power in a duramax. Always something to learn. :thumb:

Lol, ok Tom, I'll try, for you:hug::baby: but I have not had any issues with how I have built my truck, nothing I have done has caused a failure of any kind, well, except running a built trans tune on a stock trans go modded trans, the level 5 tune killed it in one wot run, but she was hurt already and I knew I was asking for it. So I have a hard time understanding why I am charged with causing havoc or damage here? I'm not the most knowledgable guy, I've proven that, but through the hottest fire the finest steel is formed, and sometimes some really good info starts from posts from noobs like me.

Nice sig btw

I have a question though, at what point would what I have done and am doing with my truck will it be considered tried and true, or "the norm"? cuz it seems to me more and more rigs are being set up the way I am setting mine up and surviving, mines surviving and im an idiot. I'm not giving advise contrary to what I have personally done, and the advise I usually regurgitate is info I have collected here from guys like you, and some others that push the envelope to a more than comfortable "known" level for these trucks....do I need to break my truck for it to be accepted that it held to a certain level, why can it not be accepted now that it's a solid set up that is working?

Just curious buddy

God gave everyone 2 eyes and 2 ears but only one mouth for a reason. Many seem to forget that these days and not only here. Diarrhea of the mouth (or fingers in this case) and constipation of the brain.

I came here to get away from the b.s, but it seems to be catching back up. I also think the tech is better in the cold months as most have more time on their hands, but the garbage is still too much.

I made somewhere around 625 hp with only a set of stock turbo twins, lift pump, tuning, exhaust, and built trans. It's a pretty easy recipe, and it works almost 100% of the time. It's actually pretty easy to spend more and end up with less. I personally thing it is by far the best way to make power on one of these trucks. It's a pretty simple recipe for 600+ hp.

FWIW, I made about 850 hp with a built motor. It had 366/4718 compound setup, Banks CAC, SoCal cam, stock heads with SoCal valve springs, 80% injectors, dual CP3s, Kodiak manifolds with upgraded up-pipes, built trans, same lift pump. I still had the stock trans cooler, stock rear diff, and no traction bars. I was able to cut mid-high 1.6 60' times on some 265 E-rated all terrains on PYOs.

I don't think anything COCO said was bad, but it's not really necessary.

My plans for the truck is to be a reliable 600+hp daily driver I may drive to the track and smoke some gay ricers on e and a while and tow a few diffrent things for my boss but other then tht I just want a bad ass truck not a seriuos racer and not a puller... I cAme up with 600 because Thts what I seem to go towards as a comfort level not to much not to less... It's gona take time to get right I understand

If you plan to run at 600 HP for very long, your #1 priority should be rods.

I think I was running 30 in the front and 25 in the back. My setup consisted of Rancho 9000 shocks and spring clamps with the bolts out of the front. The rear was at stock height.

Ok thanks i'm gonna try them, I have spring clamps with my traction bars as I never took the clamps off and have the drivers side bolt out and pass side 2 turns up.

Some people here do a lot of what I like to call "theory crafting" :thumb: high post count doesn't always mean lots of knowledge.

I read more good info out of threads with normal discussion then I ever do asking questions and when I do ask questions I've found out which answers to rely on to be more accurate. It just takes time.

I have that setup right now, spring clamps, trac bars, and bolts in a few turns and 265's on stock wheels...gonna try and go to the track soon and see what itll do
