What do you need to put a 6 speed trans in an 02?
Are you wanting trying to get a built trans in your race truck and considering swapping transmissions with your LMM? If you do that, you won't be able to make 6th gear work.

There was a list of items that are different between the different years, but I can't remember where it was or what to search. At a minimum, you'll have to do something to get the external NSBU switch on the 6 speed trans.

So not worth it in other words?!?
Depends on how good of a deal it is. I don't think it would really be all that difficult to make it work. There are also a few changes in the 6 speeds that make them a little better than the 5s.

No I don't care about 6th gear.. So I just need to find that list of things....
I think the most pertinent bit of info from that list has to do with the cooler lines. Your best bet would probably be to swap valve bodies and internal wiring harnesses between the two transmissions and pull the transgo valves out of the built trans, install them in the 5 sp. VB, and drill the separating plate. When you are doing that you can swap the NSBU parts. You may also need to swap the bellhousing if the cooler lines are different, but none of that is really all that difficult. If the price is good, I would go for it.

X2 valve body , bell housing , NSBU setup, internal harness , and i think that's it but could be forgetting something .

I swapped a 5 speed VB and internal harness into a 6 speed for Chum. It's a just a 5 speed at that point. I already had an NSBU and 5 speed TCM from Destroked. Too bad I didn't research enough to know my 09 Allison didn't have the TCS sensor in the bellhousing.

The trans will fit fine with a few changes. NSBU will need to be installed along with the internal case linkage and shift shaft. Make sure your 6 speed has provisions for input speed sensor. I have cooler fittings that will allow late trans in early truck. 5 speed valve body will have to be used along with 5 speed internal harness. It will never work as a 6 speed.
