I must be growing up or something, I'm thinking about getting rid of this lift. Does anybody have any experience taking one off, this was on the truck When I bought it? Will i have to try and locate the stock crossmember and weld it back in? I'm going to try and get into racing, and am just ready for a change. By the way anybody wanna buy a 6" lift :D
Thanks
Justin

it can be done, you either need a new front diff or you need the bracket from cognito, stock knuckles, stock bolts for the CV shafts (RCD uses a spacer and longer bolts to attach the CV's to the diff), you have to cut an ear off the frame for the mount of the front diff and this needs to be welded back on, new front shocks, new sway bar endlinks, the tie rods have to bee spun back around and you will have to cut off the brackets that were welded to the torsion bar x-member for the stiffining bars, smaller tires, and remove the block in the rear, which you will probably need new u-bolts for!

I have thought about it many times, I can even get everything i need for free, minus the front diff tab from cognito, but when i think about buying new wheels and tires I cringe!!

It's not fun at all. I'd trade the truck for a non lifted one. It's easier

Yeah no kidding, If I wasn't still in college and broke I'd sure like to trade it off on a LBZ.

Thats another problem thats half the reason to do this...I'd like to get some 18's to replace these. The list just keeps getting longer

i feel the same way (getting old). anyways sell the lift to someone locally, and take his parts to put yours back together. ie; the crossmember, front diff, and front knuckles, lower bracket ect. i just went through this last nov. luckily i kept all my stuff, and weld all the brackets back on. everything went okay. i would post this on craigslist near you and post that you need their stuff in your ad

IMO, keep the lift on and enjoy it. I went through this whole song and dance when times with money weren't so good and i pondered getting rid of my truck, but for all the cons of a lift, there are pros. I really believe that being able to see more of whats in front of you saves you in the long run.
