I ran a PPE i went 12.6's at the track and dynoed 495HP/940 torque with the 350 tune. I switched to EFI live and got down into the 12.4's.

As far as I know none of the pistons like high egt's. The way I see it it's just a Russian roullet game.

On a side note I don't know why the heck I haven't switched to efi live yet
I did run 13.4@99mph with the ppe on the 300 tune with a 100mph headwind so the box tuner ain't to shabby IMHO

The older LB7 and LLY pistons are alot more tolerant to EGT's than the newer LBZ and LMM style pistons. This is a proven fact thats been discussed many times on this site and many others.

The lb7/lly pistons don't crack as easy. I've had my Egts up to 1800 many off times in sled pulls and wide open runs. I've yet to have one melt. I'm more afraid of them breaking now.

I have been layin low here lately workin on the shop, finances are spread thin with all the projects the duramax has been on the back burner, getting the crap beat out of it as a work truck

By the way a more true statement has never been made, in 2006 GM decided to forge there pistons from glass...

Ran 12.63 best on PPE Hot+2 n with nothing more than basic mods, then switched to EFI thru Duramaxtuner and ran 12.40 best with same mods.
IMO, the PPE tune was a bit touchy for everyday use, but livable. My EFI tune ran exactly like stock until I hit the hammer.

What do you meen "basic mods" I had someone tell me I could spend about 350 bucks and get faster but he wouldnt go into detail about it, also what were your times in the 1/8 I dont have a 1/4 local track. Next month will be in Valdosta Ga at the REDNECK NATIONALS I placed third last year at Holt,Fl in the ET class hope to get a win this year. Any suggestions on any other mods for my truck. Thanks

That is why you research first on the best parts....

That is over a four year span I started with a Super Chip then stacked Edge, then a hot unlock code, Quadzilla added NOS then PPE Hot+2, and I don't think that any of those chips were bad. In the time fram of each chip at every race I went to my truck was in the top five trucks on et in my class. You missed my point it is all about going faster.
