Mike L,
If you have time I'd like to chat via phone call about these built bd transmissions I've been dealing with. Josh.

If I'm not mistaking 302 area code is Delaware right? Why are you dealing with BD when you can drive to Maryland and have BigDipper build the trans?

That's not my home state. And when the stock trans went out I left the installer w the decision as to what manufacturer to use. I live in north central PA, half hr. South of the N.Y. border. So after talking w matt in the tech dept. at bd, hes never seen one disassemble itself like this last one and they gave me no answers and no recommendations as how to remedy this from happening again. I travel ALOT, I'm a pipe welder and my living is based on these six wheels hittin the blacktop when it's time.

You could always go to Caleb at Blackout, too. Just depends on who's closer to you or can work with you the best.

Thanks bac.
I just had this last one installed 3 months ago. The truck was last repaired in erie pa, the trans shop was good. If I had the time and money put back I was willing to void the 3 yr warranty and have someone go thru it to see what if bd was jerking me around more then they already have. So, if I get the time I'd luv to have a reputable trans builder teardown this thing and see.
Have wondered if GB should take a closer look at the tcm/harness pack?

If that trans shop was actually "good", they would've stopped after the first BD and done something else instead of wasting your money and time. Evan does sell a kit so other shops can install his trans, and its been getting excellent reviews. It is a viable option for you, depending on if you can get any $$ back from BD for all their failures. Good luck to you.

TheBac,
This is the 3rd installer, 4th trans,
Other then lawyers and more money bd has me by the short hairs. I'd imagine they're using the same core w new guts,
What I mean by good is, someone who's experienced and trained specifically in transmissions. U see the warranty is how they've got me in the coals, 1200 every time I have to put one in. But, 6k to have another brand or manufacturer build one.
If it was a u.s. based company lawyers wld be doable, not so much if they're in another country. As I said, I was directed by the installer initially so how wld I have known other wise about the details of bd trans

Even the worst kit can be installed half decently with the best builder. Half your problem is the builders/installers of your warranty trans

Dmax,
3rd installer 4th trans, I'd likely lean on the fact that a possible core problem exists, not rotating but housing related.
The trans shops installed them bd built them, so tell me how ud get out of this trans and in another one without coughing up another 1200-6000 cash!!!????

I got Evans kit in my Duramax. Installed it myself was quite a chore lol. Evan was a lot of help answering calls and texts. I’d buy another from him in a heartbeat. Awesome guy!

Nothing wrong with them re using your trans as the core to build on. As long as they replace all the parts that are / were bad. I doubt anyone here really knows what BD puts inside those units, so little insight will probably be shared as to what the problem might be.

What happens when the trans "goes out" each time? Just limps? Overheats?
