I saw you bumped my old build thread, but I'll respond here. When I first started, I took my trans to the guy who was supposed to be the best 4L80 guy anywhere, but I had nothing but problems from the trans. After a whole year of him building and rebuilding it, I decided to give up on him and build it myself. At that point, I already had the billet input shaft, intermediate shaft, and clutch hub. I also had his trans brake and valve body mods, but I didn't trust them and called up Rossler for some of their parts. For the clutches I used an Alto Red Eagle power pack in the forward clutch, stock Borg Warner high energy clutches in the intermediate and direct clutch, and Alto high energy (I think they were called Kryptonite) clutches with kolene steels in the OD clutch. The Borg Warner clutches in the intermediate were stock frictions, but I used thinner steels and cut plates to increase the friction count in both clutches. I don't really remember, and unfortunately, I didn't take good notes, but I think I used 6 frictions in the direct and 4 in the intermediate. The converter I used was a one off piece from Circle D Specialties out of Houston, but I have since had it redone by Goerend. I'm not sure either one wants to do another one or not, but it wouldn't hurt to check with them and see. Other than them, I think SunCoast used to build 4L80 converters, and I know Precision does as well. I'm sure any of them could build a converter for you.
