Trans is a 1999 4l80e in a jeep behind a 4 cylinder diesel using a bauman trans controller to make it shift. Trans was rebuilt by local shop before doing the conversion, all electrical connections are soldered, tps is new, grounds are all solid (factory jeep ground points) and have tried 2 new bauman trans controllers trans acts the same no matter what I do as far as TCS, TPS or any electrical connections. The only thing I havent done is tear into the tranny.
Whats it doing. I load a "base" diesel specific tune that comes with the bauman tcs software that should at least make it shift. The shift software shows the tps haveing proper voltage as you push the accelerator pedal and also shows it as reaching the proper points to change gears. The trans shifts into revers, park and neutral just fine as well as drive, once it drive I can accelerate fast, slow or whatever and it accelerates fine but once it reaches the time to shift into 2nd gear it slams into 2nd hard and no more shifting no matter how high I rev it. I can get the converter to lock up through programming but thats it.
So what could cause this? any ideas? The tranny has a warranty (yeah I know I know should have done it myself) but I already know how this is gonna play out so I need somethings to be able to suggest while these guys freak out about a GM tranny in a jeep. My plan is to drop it off with them and have them go back through the tranny since I am thinking they missed something or maybe left a little trash in the valve body or am I way off base?
Thanks
Randy
