Does anyone else find it "unsettling" that the picture quality on these new 4K TVs is so good that it looks like you were sitting next to the cameraman watching the action while they were filming the movie? Even old black-and-white movies or films from the 60s and 70s?
Ho-lee-shit!

so far i don't have any true 4k content so the quality is not where i think it will be. on my 1k TV i receive all of the broadcasts from over the air (antenna) so it is full HD and the picture is very much better than what you get from cable or satellite.

when the providers start broadcasting in 4k over the air then that is when the quality will show. until then it is only 4k blu-ray.

i don't believe any cable or satellite provider, youtube, etc gives you lossless 4k. but considering how good it looks with the compressed signals it shows how much potential it has.

my 4k tv is just for movie nights right now so i am good :thumb:

Once my 1280P projector dies, I figure I will have to research the 4K options. I love the picture quality of the ones I have seen.

I absolutely love my 70" 4k. Nothing is out there program or movie wise that's in true 4k format yet. But I have watched all the Grand Tour episodes that claim are in 4k UHD, and oh my, it is something extraordinary.

I'll put it this way....even the damn commercials look kinda like live TV on this Samsung. Freakiest dang thing Ive seen in a long time.
Football this past weekend was a treat, too. :) Well....except for the Lions laying a colossal egg against Seattle....:roflmao:

Plasma looks like a tube TV compared to SUHD

Well since CRT tvs have some of the best black levels of any tvs made... I'll take it.

And I do have a suhd led tv too.

OLED is looking promising though. I'll probably pick one up soon. And another plasma while I still can.

Im still rocking my Samsung Plasma....I have an LED in my Bedroom and the picture just moves funny on it....Makes me feel sick sometimes, and its the same shows....I never have understood why some LED TV's do this. Its a Sharp Aquos too...so not junk.

I just bought a 4k suhd Samsung Friday but I was missing a box so I can't use it yet! The few I've watched I noticed it looked like you were watching it from the chair next to the cameraman. Hopefully I can get used to it because I'm pretty excited about it!

8000 series? Thats what we bought. Rated best picture for a mid-level TV. Its wild, isnt it?

I still have my 42'' Panasonic plasma in my living room. I bought it just over 10 years ago and I paid around $3200 for it. It's on almost all day long and hasn't skipped a beat. The 4k tv's look weird to me. The picture seems clearer to me than if I was actually there looking at the same image live if that makes sense.

This is exactly what Im thinking....ALmost so real it looks SUrreal or fake....and people dont seem to flow or move naturally on it...Hard to explain

It's partially your brains fault but mostly the tvs fault.

You see these super high refresh rates listed everywhere. 240,480,600,960 Hz (times a second the picture refreshed) when those actually aren't possible. Most LCD panels can only do 120hz. A few years ago panels were only 60hz. So to achieve those rates the tvs processor takes frames and chops them into smaller pieces to get two or three frames out of one or sometimes replays a frame twice. That gives the effect of ghosting.

Led tvs are still lcds just with led backlighting instead of fluorescent. That provides a better picture because the dimming can be controlled better. Where as on a plasma each individual pixel can be controlled independently. Thats why the color and black rendering is so good.

Also led backlights stay bright for much longer than fluorescent which dim with time.

Judder is a problem with some of the LED TVs. I noticed it with some shows initially, but I went into the settings and checked off the option to help clean it up. It worked.
This 4K upscaling is amazing.

Arek, the OLED tvs do the same thing as the plasmas.

The only thing I'm still working on is the synch rate between the tv and the sound bar. Its off slightly.

I notice this a lot with my Cable box...and Have for a long time and never knew why the sound wasnt in sync with the video....Makes no sense. It should all happen instantaneously....You would think.

With our old TV, I had to reset the sound bar by turning it off and back on, then it sync'd back up. This TV actually has a sync rate selection, but I think its off by a bit.
