Or slow 60 foot times, or not being able to participate in a truck pull, and the list goes on.

Ehh, maybe a slight disadvantage in a pull:D, but they'll do it.
Racing on the otherhand, i think we've yet to see a true street 2wd truck shine! I'd be willing to bet with some slicks, suspension mods, good suspension tuning a 2wd truck can pull equal if not better 60ft times. Its gonna take work but i have faith. Its why i wanted a 2wd to begin with. Less drivetrain losses too.

and oh how quickly we forget one of the original 2wd drag racers in a dmax... bmdmax. He did some big things for 2wds in his time. Supposed to be building an engine with Kennedy but sure don't here much out of either one anymore. Hope they're still working on it!!

Also, and don't crucify me for saying it, but Orange Crush is a fine example of a hard launching 2wd Dmax. :D

All that said, I'd take one 4wd truck over any 10 2wds. Just don't have a desire for 2wd. Too inconvenient.

Ya, very valid points, course banks truck is waaaaaay over what we consider street. And realisticlly Orange Crush too. I know theres some nasty 2wd trucks out there makin impressive runs. Till the ET's really get goin the 4x4 guys have a deff advantage without doing massive of work like a 2wd guy would. Im that "guy". Im do my damnest to try! Maybe ive been around drag cars and race gas too long:spit: But ill try!

I would love to have another dmax long as its 4x4 and ZF-6;)

Absolutly! im still dreamin of my exact truck with a ZF-6 in her. Jsut cant justify doin a swap when i just put a built trans in lol. I love rowin them gears :coal:

on a side note. is it just me or did we get a bunch of new smiles?? could jsut be the fact that i never open the full menu up lol

Yup! I love jammin gears, plus the ZF-6 is a pretty stout unit! It can take some abuse (permiting a stout clutch too). And that combined with a 4x4 because i have got mine stuck a time or two and it is nice somtimes. Alot of my desire is also because my current truck now is my toy and its going to see limited use when its done. No everday commutes, no towing, no hauling crap (exept @ss:D) So having another dmax (i love them!) to use as a daily driver, haul stuff and do truck things with would be awsome. Preferable the cheapest form i could get my hands on one. A plain, no options, work truck would be prefect! Mod the airbox, toss an exhaust on it and a mild tune and go put miles on it!

Haven't seen him post much in the last 2 years, one of last threads was BMDMAX's Guide to Engine Removal Hotness back in 2007 Id assume its been taken care of since then.

meh...the ZF hard parts are not any stronger than allison hard parts imo.

ben

right but all that is needed is an upgraded clutch/flywheel to hold the power you want. Now for me, that is easy enough to do labor wise so id save on that side of things. The alli needs upgraded clutches and other little changes that can be donting to most guys so they, like me, will take their trans in to be built, thus adding in labor costs. This was why i felt id prefer the zf-6 over the alli had i had the choice between the two in the truck to begin with. Just depends on your cup of tea i guess

Ahh hell dont get Ben started! :)

too late!
