Well disassembled the EGR vavle, welded up the hole in the little metal bracket thing that had the ports in it, made a new gaskets and threw it back on EGR free. Ran vacuum lines, put fly wheel and starter on, put the wiring harness on and attempted to fire her up. Injectors are not firing so need to see if sitting 3 years in the open plugged them or if the computer is not firing them. was too tired last night after pulling my brothers trans out of this 1500 to keep f'ing with it

i did order twin sticks, some knuckle studs i needed, ARP hub studs, chromoly outer hub gear, and some other little stuff. basically, my front axle is a built as you can build a toyota front axle. next weak point is the 4 cyl ring and pinion which can be upgraded to v6 stuff and cryo'ed/heat treated but if thats the case, im putting the ford d60 my dad has under this thing.

A bad coolant temp sensor will keep the injectors from firing James. Put a jumper wire across both terminals of the plug and see if it works.

ah didnt know that. ill try that. i really need to noid test them first and see if there is even any power at them. i just have a feeling them are stuck shut or bad all together.

Well found i cut the power wire to the injectors. wired that back in and the injectors work perfect. Also found i had the distributor out 180* (fire balls out the intake are a quick determination of that lmao). then found i had not hooked up the wires right for the ignition. AND THEN found my "jumper wire" for the ignition coil were not making good contact and not letting the injectors keep firing.

so when that was all said and done, the crappy batt i was using no longer could turn the motor over fast enough to get it to fire, even with jumpers from the wifes car. This was all last week, then ran out of time to get it goin again. So essentially all i need is a batt to fire it up.

i also got a fricken smokin deal on some 37" krawler red labels (sticky tires) with Staun bead locks and nice rims with welded on rock rings. problem is the rims are the wrong lug patter so ill have to put new ones on. So the 39.5" are goin up forsale.

speaking of 4.3's......Im really interested in seeing what the future performance-industry holds for the new all-aluminum 4.3 "LSx" in the 2014 pickup trucks. :D :woott:

only potential issue is the ECM tuning. The new E92 controller that is going to run the Gen V V8's (and V6) is supposedly a pretty complex beast, with multiple "virtual" environments in which the operating system is run.

Obviously to do a swap would require the anti-theft to be disabled, as the 2014+ trucks are going to have a much more advanced anti-theft system that not only requires the ignition cylinder and BCM, but the instrument cluster, and several other things as well in order for the ECM to pass anti-theft and allow the engine to start.

Because the E92 ECM is going to be used on basically every Gen V engine as far as I know (everything from corvettes to gas trucks), im sure it will be priority #1 for all the aftermarket tuning companies to crack....

so basically, im gunna need a standalone harness for the engine and a non-factory ECM to run it all by its self and still be able to tune it.

with the direct injection, VVT, AFM, and all the other advanced technologies in the Gen V engines, I doubt there is going to be any realistic option as far as running the thing in standalone on an aftermarket ECM.

The aftermarket will crack the ECM sooner rather than later, because as I said, its a common ECM thats going to be used in the trucks, vettes, camaros, SUV's, etc. So there is a very large potential market for tuning support, which should make it a high priority for the EFILive, HPT, etc guys

well just ordered a whole bunch of little stuff to get things finished up for the front axle and the dual cases.

ordered all from trail gear:
twin sticks
twin stick boot for the cab
more knuckle studs for the 6 shooters
ARP hub studs so i dont sheer the stockers right off
the chomoly outer hub gears (already have the inners)
and wheel bearing nuts with locking ring

all thats left is to buy Marlin Crawler inner axle seals and dirty 30 chromoly axles.

but now i can put the dual cases together atleast, get the motor runnin and pick a few parts for the trans.

nothing like having more parts than i have time to put them together. Funny how a few years ago, this use to be the other way around.

More work done on her

these came in a week or so ago. soon as i drill the staun bead lock inner tube holes, i can go get them mounted. might be able to do that next week

DangerDog hooked me up with a bunch of hiems i need, just need one more left hand 1.25" (thanks again sean, its much appreciated!!!)

then last night i put a new hood on the rig and started on my toyota doubler

since the tcase already on my trans was a top shift and i could not find another top shit to save my life that didnt cost an arm and leg, i got a forward shift tcase. Just took a little modding to make it so i could use it as a range box infront of my top shift. Today ill hopefully get the double fully assembled with twin sticks on the rear case so i can try to drop the whole drivetrain in the buggy this weekend. We will see how that goes being mothersday is this weekend.

good news for ya. EFILive already has the E92 controller "cracked" and supported. :D

The fact that the 2014 trucks havent even hit dealer lots yet and EFILive already has E92 support (early reports from idiots on the internet said this ECM was supposedly "uncrackable") is awesome!

So maybe down the road when some of the 2014 silverados start getting wrecked and the 4.3 "LSx's" turn up in junk yards you can repower the Sami yet again. :D :thumb:
