I was looking at the savage .338, but it is too heavy to use as a weapon in idaho for hunting. Gunwerks makes one that is 15.9 lbs w/scope, and is good for mile shots fairly easy. http://www.gunwerks.com/Shooting-Systems/verdict

Don't cheap out on the optics. You bought a gun that can shoot 1500+ yards easily, with out even sweating. My best friend has the same gun, he put a Nightforce on it. Scope was more than the gun.
Also X2 on the good brass. He had trouble with brass getting stuck and had to send the gun back to savage for machine work. I think they did it under warranty for him.
Geez, for the $7250 base price tag, I will carry my 2 pound heavier savage around with me and not care.
I was $1602 out the door for mine minus a scope.
Yea I think I have settled on one of the vortex vipers. And also the only brass I will be using is factory brand new ammo or never fired empties that my dad will be reloading.
I'm not familiar with the Vortex stuff. Make sure it can handle the shock of a round that big... These bigger guns can beat a normal scope to death, no way to keep it sighted in.
What bi-pod is on it? Building an HBAR AR and can't decide on a bi-pod.
never understood those quad rails on a big boy rifle like that... quads are for tactical rifles imo.
I just wish I knew how to shoot long range...
You don't use you laser sight and tac light for 1000yd shots? Thats the only way to roll.:roflmao:
