LMM: 300K Mile 1 ton needs new life!

My 2007 1/2 Duramax 1 Ton has 297,500 miles on it today. It is Throwing Codes, Blowing Smoke & Chattering in the Tranny when under load. I would like to learn how to make it better than it was when I bought it new 8 years ago. I use it everyday hauling equipment of all kinds & its always loaded to the max.

I look forward to meeting some good folks & contributing what I learn & already know.

What are the codes? What kind of smoke? Any other symptoms?

Fuels system will probably need an overhaul. Have the Trans built. And depending on the smoke there maybe some internal damage.

The codes are P2446 (only once) P0087 constantly & P0101 constantly It Blows Black Smoke at times & then a code comes up for Exhaust regen (look at owners manual)

The only modification is aftermarket air breather

What brand air intake? The intake definitely a possible cause off your issues. The p0101 is mass air flow sensor code. If you have an oiled air filter then that's the problem. Either way try cleaning the mass air flow sensor with a mass airflow cleaner.
