Been wanting to retire my LBZ, but didnt want to stop pulling.. Got a crazy idea to build a pull truck, that would look exactly like the drag truck, but not 4" off the ground, so the fun began...

I gave a 30 day build time frame on this project, because I knew if it didnt happen by then it would sit. I found this 03 EC/SB LB7 on CL for $3500. I had been watching it since the owner started weeks earlier for $6900. When it got down to $3900, I made a cash offer and snagged it. I drove it 300+mi home with no tail lights, a bumper ready to fall off and three bad injectors. Interior is leather, power everything. After getting it back to the shop, we yanked the motor, replaced the bad injectors, and sold the motor on CL for $3500. So $0 into the truck the first week. Then I got the crazy idea of a 30 day build...

It ended up being 34 days from start to finish, paint and body, full Engine build, trans, suspension ect.. Our last day of the build was our local first hook of the season. We worked 34hrs non stop trying to get ready, and missed the gate by two hours. We spent three days prior chasing harness issues, and PG&E had me down changing a transformer for a day. Ill never do a 30 day build again, thats for sure.. Huge thanks to ATP, MPI, SO Cal Diesel, Forced inductions and my shop rats!!!

I noticed that too, thought it was the way i sent them from my phone to E-mail. I tried to send them full size, but they load to the site the same. Full size pics, plus more are on the RPM Motorsports FaceBook page if you want to check them out.

I think they are American Racing iirc, it's been a while since I bought them. They are 16.5x14 with 33x14" Boggers. I've been pulling with them on my LBZ for a while. They are in my avatar pic as well.

Wondered where you've been hiding, Russ. New truck looks good. Free -- :thumb: Gotta like free.

Nope, everything was ordered, built or fabricated. Even the turbo had to be built. only thing I had was the LB7 block, crank, LBZ heads, and misc external parts to build an LLY. Everything had to head to the machine shop. The only thing ready was the Exergy injectors I bought from a buddy, and the wheel/tire package.

They look like Welds, but it doesn't matter. The truck looks great. Any chance of getting pics of the solid axle and how it's attached?

EDIT - Upon further review, looks like I saw a different truck's link suspension.

Lol, the Alum block is still at SoCal. We had a setback with pistons, but they are here now. I'll get back on that project later in the year. We still need to get the Chevelle dialed in first.
