I would really like to lower the rear of my truck without changing springs. Right know I use to of the 2" wide rachet straps. Works good but I would be nicer if I could just run without them. Anybody have an info on running them?

They take about 10 min a side. My buddy pulled with 3 inch drop shackles and it kinda screwed him. I wouldn't go more than two inches. Plus the belltech 3" actually lower it about 5 in the rear

THESE are what I have on my truck. They have 2 sets of holes as well.

Im running the belltech 3" drop shackels. Easy to install but time consuming.

Thanks Guy!

may i ask what the theory is behind lowering the rear for pulling? where's the gain?

My truck is setup to block the rear solid. With my hitch I have to lower the rear if the truck to make 26" hitch height rules. I like the lower rear height because of several reasons. 1 it keeps the rear drivline angles down which is better for the U-joint and carrier bearing. I am still running the orginal joints and carrier bearing.;) 2 When the sled pulls the truck level It does not lift the front as much. Better CV shaft angles. Again all my frontend parts are original. 3 I really like the way the truck hooks like this. 4 All the cool guys are doing lifts so I will not.:D

The backend is straped down in this video.

Did you measure before and after trent? I made some shackles that the holes were 4.5" farther apart than the stock shackle and it lowered it the exact same amount as my buddies truck who had the 3" belltechs.

you got to remember your only lowering it about half of the distance between the holes. You have to make the shackles almost twice as long as the drop to get the drop you want. (As the axle is in the center of the spring, and not right at the shackle).

Also I dropped mine with 2" shackles and then pulled the 7/8" thick over load spring (as I dont pull anything heavy right now).

My rear dropped right at 3".

At the axle, mine lowered me about 3". The gate is about 5" lower. Lowering the gate was my main reason for installing the shackles.

The only problem has been the reduction in rear axle travel. You will hit the bump stops a lot more after the lowering. In my case, I hit the air bags a lot. It makes for a hard hit too.

I just went and measured. To get my truck to sit on the stops I need to loose 2". My plan was get a drop shackel that would let sit on the stops all the time. I can pump my bags up if I need to street drive it. That should work fine. Not like I tow with it anymore. I do still have the B&W in it.:baby:

Cant the rear stops be cut??? Give you a little more room before bottoming out the suspension??

Not with air bags. They replace the stops. Even so, your getting a lot closer to the frame, and I have no intentions of cutting the frame.

Man, I like the way your truck sits, Jordan. Maybe I should lower the back of my truck.
