I know 05_LLY has removed his keys and ground alittle off them to make them drop keys. Has anyone else done this? I'm thinking about doing it too, just don't know how much to remove, how strong they will be etc. Anyone have any knowledge about this?

Still sitting in the same place in the garage. I've been way to busy with everybody else's projects, to even look at mine. When I do get free time, we have been looking for shop space.

Where are u cutting the frame off at? We have a long bed that we would like to mak a short bed. It's on our race max. How hard would that be. I meant to tell you we picked up a truck that looked like the one u sent me pics of. Got it for $1500

Pretty simple! I removed around 30" from the back half of the frame (behind rear tires). I took a little more then needed, for weight reduction. Nothing gets changed on the front half, if your staying leaf's!

Sure thing;)! A few new bed mounting holes need to be drilled in the top of the frame, to match the short bed mounting holes. The front two holes line the bed up in the same place.

Why not just spend the money on drop key's? I think they are less then $100 for the pair! Then you still have your stockers if you want to go back.

Because I don't know where to buy them from lol! And how much lower would that put me? Anyone?Mine now is a stock keyed truck ( keyes loewered as far as possible, just not enought i think atleast)? peorple say you need to buy a new spindle or something like that (sorry I don't know what a spibdle is really, but were all noobies at some point lol) Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,
Ben

Mount the short bed with the two front bolt's. find the last mounting hole on the short bed, and cut it right after the hole. No need to have the frame go any further, unless your running a bumper & not a roll pan.

Are you possitive?? Woudln't the long bed trucks have a different wheel base? If so you would need to cut out a section of the frame too, other wise only a flatbed would work... The front of the wheel wells would be sitting on the rear tires

don't cheap out on the keys. i've seen a few of the cheap ones crack.

russ you'll like those 6" arms. they are the same ones i have. if you run them you don't need the drop keys.

you can run hummer wheels all around w/ the spindles too. then do the M&H 17" slicks.

Mcgaughys has the best HD keys out there.
