I have been in the process of building a 2001 GMC 2WD RCLB street toy because I got sick of sled pulling and wanted to enjoy my weekends a little more..... That is when I'm not traveling for work. So I bought a beat up well used 01 GMC from a guy down in AZ. My buddy was nice enough to go pick it up for me many months ago. After I finally sold my pulling truck rolling chassis a couple months ago the fun began. The truck has somewhere around 320xxx miles on the body and it shows both around and in the truck. I have replaced the UCA, lower ball joints, shocks all the way around, pitman, idler arm, inner and outer tie rods, and many parts to come I'm sure lol. I transferred my Caltracs form my pulling truck to this one.

I am setting it up all for fun and surprise a couple of peoples when I'm at the drag strip and cruising down the road. I am condensing to one battery and moving it to the frame rail. The ECM and TCM will be moved from the battery tray and the FICM to the other battery tray location. Going to electric fans, van thermostat housing and going to be running a single S475 on my built motor.

I am going to be in the hunt for a mid to late 50's chevy truck because I want to used the current frame and shorten it and drop the 50's cab and box onto the chassis and have a cruiser with all old interior and modern bottom half. I would post pictures but its really nothing to look at lol but hopefully after this weekend I will at least have the motor and the transmission. I have some Proxies for street use and some good old drag radials for the strip and if I feel like having some fun on the street.

I also found a plug that I am hoping will work in place of the old FRP sensor.

Nice find!

I think I remember this truck floating around in CL for a while here in AZ. Not sure if you already said or not but what's the "end" goal for this one?

Well the update is I am getting pretty close to starting it just working on a few little wiring things. Hopefully this weekend it will be running and maybe even driving if I get my driveshaft this week.

Maybe I'll get some pictures up this week.

Looks good Eric. :thumb:
I wished I would have had the time to paint that exhaust housing and pedestal so it would look better, oh well. I think it will still run the same, haha.

Well it's one step forward two steps back. I ran out of fuel Thursday night so Friday I picked up a fuel can an added 10 gallons. Then Saturday night when I was hoping to start it I didn't have the best ground from the motor to the body so I melted the negative side off the battery. :(

But tonight I am dead set on getting it to idle! Maybe. We'll see. :roflmao:

Doesn't matter though I going on 3 weeks on waiting for my driveshaft because parts are on back order and my one intercooler boot wont be here until tomorrow.
