I wouldn't do a 2nd gear launch at all... some people don't have any issue's with while some fry the torque converter on the first pass. If I was you i'd pull up to the line set both bulbs and then stage and don't worry about cutting a good light that way you keep heat at a minimum

true but if i can cut about the same 60's without that shift in there it should improve my ET no? Event with a stock turbo you think i could damage my converter?

odds are you will not save much ET if any at all... is .02 worth the risk? you be the judge

im guessing you already know?....

1st gear has always worked great. I said ask George 1st because that's the 1st person your going to call if it breaks from the 2nd gear and when you go and say yea I was racing and taking off in 2nd he knows ahead of time he might say you could get away with it but it's safer to see what he thinks first ahead of time since he would be fixing it and you would be waiting on your truck for repairs.I try and ask before I do werd crap anymore.

Well, if you do it dont plan on a new converter warrantied if it fails now that you just posted it on the net lol.

I say dont do it. You already are pushing your motor with your race tune...

its really not that crazy a tune though mike, i dont wanna go into too much detail on this site but i will say what im running is less then whats in his library.

i think my good times are mostly due to a good setup, good track, good air

Lol let it ring 3 times then hang up

lol is that the secret? george loves me he would never not answer;)

seriously though he was johnny on the spot for me at TS when i snapped my axle and i called and said "oh fu*k i think i just broke my brand new trans" trans":baby: i was freaking out and he helped me realize it was in the rear and not the trans and even helped me find parts that i ended up not needing:eek::hug:

TX of course
I wouldn't do it but I don't understand this fastest "stock" truck BS neither. You could put a nice turbo on your truck for the price of that converter.

X2 and easily run the numbers you are shooting for and have a pretty nice safe daily driver.

I think the idea of fastest stock takes the theory "well, I'm doing a build, so I'd like to see how far I can take it anyway".

If you are planning a build anyway, trust me, the down time between the blown motor and a dialed in built motor is no where near worth the .2 more tenth you are searching for, just a thought, but to each his own. Good luck though. :thumb:

If you guys know where I can get a nice turbo AND everything I need for the install for the price of a new converter (1200 or less) please do share....

I like the idea of fastest stock truck becuase that's what I have. I don't have the funds to work with at the moment for a new charger. I like the idea of working harder and being better then so-so with the same mods to my truck. It probably sounds dumb to you guys but I'm proud of being the 15th quickest "stock" duramax known to have existed. I got there by putting lots of thought and effort into my setup and practicing often. When the time comes and I have the money for turbo/fuel upgrades I'll be happy to do that but untill then this is giving me something to shoot for and a reason to continue bettering my truck and myself as a driver

thanks for the goodluck :)

Hope you dont think I was trying to shoot you down lol. That is something to be happy about. And you are doing good. I dont think its dumb, I think that you are having fun and thats all the matters.

Again, be careful, you are on the verge of needing more than turbo/fuel upgrades....

thanks nick, I'm trying to keep a handle on it and not get too carried away. I'm trying to make these times happen with good setup and driving over HP as much as possible and like I told mike though I wouldn't call it conservitave this tune I feel anyway is not too crazy

Thats the right attitude to have Beach , it never mattered what parts were on my truck she always got pushed to the limit of that combo or to what i new how to do at the time , and guess what , everything i learned on the journey still held true at the higher power levels , its not shear luck that makes these trucks go fast , its "determination" , "grit" , "Drive" , things rarely go the way you want them too but you grit through it and keep trying your A** off ,in the end you WILL end up with a broken truck and broken wallet but boy is it fun :D

As far as second gear launches , i wont do them , i played with it one weekend , I was pulling the trans by Sunday :D Only got 4-6 tries and yes it did feel promissing , and some have had decent luck with it , if you do try it just make sure to not do repeated attemps and whatch the trans temps very CAREFULLY :thumb:
