New to the forum and to Chevy's. Sold my '02 F350 and bought an '06 2500 LBZ.

The truck I purchased has BFG 285 75R16 on stock rims. These are not listed as a factory option but, I really like the look and they do not appear to rub (but I've only had the truck for a week). They calculate out to 33 in height.

Is this common practice among Duramax folks to run this tire size on 2500s? I'm assuming the downsides are lower gas mileage, maybe a little harder on the transmission than stock.

Interested in opinions.

Yes it is common. However, the stock wheels are very narrow and you may end up wearing out the centers quick on the 285s. I am much happier since I went to a wider wheel.

I have 285s on stock wheels and torsion bars at stock height or slightly lower. But I did some trimming. If you don't tow heavy you can play with tire pressures to fine tune the wear pattern. I run 45 psi in the back and 65 up front. Seems to work well.

I've got 285's on my truck, not cranked but did trim the valence. Air pressure and alignment help a ton on wear. I run 60 front/50 rear and they've worn great unless I've hotrodded.

4th set of BFG ATs on mine and I run 42-45 psi all around. ALWAYS get 70-75 k out of them on the PYOs. 15k rotation makes a big difference. Much as I like to, they're too expensive to light very often.

I had 305s on stock wheels and the back ones wore out super fast! Wait that was the power lol. I do have 4 bad ball joints now sure those tires didn't help or 245000 miles.

Do any of you have a close up picture of JUST your rim and/or tire showing the 285/75/16? Please PM me if you do or are willing to send me a pic of it please. It will be greatly appreciated!
