Just sold the 20x12 wheels off my Dmax, gonna be ordering a black and machined set of wheels, but curious on 12 wide or 10 wide. Friday I was cruising down the road and my driver side hub assembly broke in half and wheel passed me up. My lift kit is a spindle lift so its bumps the track out 1.5", plus the width of 20x12 wheels. Lift us let all the way down and cvs are level. Do you guys think it broke cause the wheel width or just from wear? Assembly never once had a sign of wear just randomly broke doing 55 down the road. It was the original hub assembly that came on the truck new, around 120k on it. Any ideas? I love my 12s but if their gonna break hubs idk about ordering another set, scary ride. Replaced hub with a moog assembly. Ideas?

Ouch. I just replaced my F/R Hub Sat. It was growling and when I got it off the truck, spun it by hand and man was it bad. I was afraid of this very thing happening to me that has happened to 05Monsterdmax.

That looks like it cracked some time ago, and just now broke all the way through. The surface rust on parts of the surface... Perhaps I am viewing it wrong though, it kinda looks like that rust is from the surfice as well.

I have had several parts break half way but never noticed it till it failed some time later.

Do you have access to a micrometer, can you check the thickness of the material near the break? See if this was caused by corrosion alone, or see if it is superfishel.

I had the motor out of the truck so its been sitting outside since around January, haven't drive it but twice since I put it back together. I'm thinking it was just wore out, or fractured to begin with and just happened to break. Went ahead and picked up a moog hub the other day, gonna buy another tomarrow and replace both for peace of mind.

Yeah that sucks but its not a common failure.

Back when my truck was lifted I ran some pretty wide tires and wheels with no issues. Some of the wider setups i ran were 36x15.50s on 20x10s 4.5"bs and 35x14.50s on 22x14s 4.75"bs

Id say its been bad for awhile.. I had 12" welds with 36" Swampers.. Only got 60-70k on a set of factory front hubs.

120 is a long time. (mine was lifted within 500 miles of new)

my truck now runs factory newer wheels. have 200k on one side, Had 150k on the other. Put a china pos on, got 20k on that one. Back to factory stuff.

Take the Moog back and get a Timken. If you look around, you can find them with a lifetime warranty.

X2

Mine had 38x15.5 on 20x10.... snapped one exactly like yours that was a gm piece....had 121k miles on it. Ate 4 on the other side....all chinese crap. Stick with gm stuff, seems to work better.

Moog is lifetime warranty. I usually run timken on my old gassers but figured moog would be better on here. Curious why u say timken over moog?

Timken have proven themselves as the best hub for our trucks time and time again. Moog is very good at just about everything else.
