”The contract is for the movement of engine blocks from the manufacturer in Germany to the production plant of a leading American car manufacturer, based in Moraine, Ohio, ”

Although Yusen did not elaborate further than saying it belongs to a “leading American manufacturer”, it is likely the General Motors (60%) and Isuzu Diesel Services of America (40%) owned DMAX facility in Moraine, which produces theDuramax 6.6L V-8 diesel engine for GM’s Silverado and Sierra heavy pickup trucks.

Question to be answered; Will GM change blockmaterial by this move from the current Defiance Foundry? Defiance will close down it´s entine greyiron productiuon by summer next year. I think that they will use Halberg Guss good CGI to keep up with the competition.

”At present, there are only two V-diesel engines in the market that are not based on CGI cylinder blocks: the Mercedes 3.0L V6 (aluminium) and the General Motors 6.6L Duramax V8 (grey cast iron). CGI has effectively become the standard material for V-diesel engine cylinder blocks. ”:thumb:

I was at the stealth tent at Hunting 4 Horsepower in Coeur D'alene yesterday and saw they have preorders for their boxes for the '17. Not sure if they are any good or not or how bad they are for full emissions equipped vehicles but at least it's something to up the hp and tq and throttle response till full tuning is available.

Duramax 6.6 with blocks from Germany

Isn´t this an issue? The GM Defiance foundry in Moraine is closing it´s ironfoundry next summer and GM will take the blocks from the German Neue Halberg Guss in Saarbrücken. I hope that this means a switch from old grey iton to up to date CGI in the block. This may be a good competition for Ford that already has CGI in their 6.7 l PS in Super Duty
