So this morning drove into work just fine no issues which is about a fifteen mile drive, back the truck in and everything was fine until I put the truck in park. The RPM went up from about 800 to 1,200 and sat there regardless if foot was on the break or not. Shut the truck off turned it back on a couple minutes later, truck stayed at around 1,200 RPM put it in drive pulled forward a bit, then put it in reverse truck shuttered a little bit and rpm dropped back to normal range. Any ideas as to what the problem could be? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah the truck has 20,000 hours on it and about 62,000 miles it's a 2012 with remote start, and I bought it used, so I think the previous owner really over used there remote start when they owned the truck

TX of course
In the oil field our work trucks "cool down areas" so they ran all day for guys that needed a break.

I wouldn't worry to much about it unless it does it again. Maybe it was a freak thing.

Find that hard to believe.

The remote start can only run for 20 minutes (2 10 minute cycles back to back) max. You cant just hit the remote start and let it sit an idle for days at a time.

Theres 8760 hours in a year. The truck can only be about 3.5 years old at the most if its a 2012. Thats 30,000 hours, if the truck was run 24 hours a day for 3.5 years straight without being shut off once.

Maybe I am mixing the number up and it's just 2,000? I haven't had a chance to go look at it but I will update you guys all on the correct number when I get out of work, but thanks to all of you guys for responding I definitely appreciate it. And I know 20,000 is a lot on the motor especially for how old the truck is, like I said I will definitely have to check on it when I get out of work.

Unless it's a MY2012 from `11. I doubt it either way. You probably over looked the decimal. 2000.0 hours.

12 hours a day every single day for 3.5 years would only be 15,000 hours.

My rig went out in Jan of 2012, it runs 24/7, it was down 2 months when xto finished with it, 2 months last year for maintenance, and 2 months this year for maintenance and Rex to redo their debt shit. Plus it's shut down 2-4 days for moves and its moved 26 times.

It as of last hitch just broke 30k hours on #1 draw works motor and #2 is just shy of 30.

More than likely, my truck has 60k and 2600 hours and it idles a fair amount.
