i am pretty sure they are cast aluminum

I'm sure that was just the grade braking feature.

He starts the rpms at 600-700? When do you ever go down the road in that rpm range and suddenly (if it was a downshift) go to 4000? The other way around (upshift) makes more sense but we can't see the speedo.
