I bought a new Lmm in early September, I ask the salesman if there was any upcoming changes for the 09's he said No not really the only thing different was that they was offering them with Bluetooth Tech. However 2010 there is rumor that the truck will be a 6.9 with 425plus hp & 700lbs trq.

But this was a salesman telling me this!

I BELIEVE THE 4.5 WILL BE AWESOME IN A HALF TON.

I think the Urea system may be similar to the Bluetec system used by Mercedes in Europe. They add a special water mixture to help improve fuel economy.

Urea is a type of ammonia that is injected into exhaust to cut down on emissions. I know this because the 100mm+ btu furnace systems we build all have urea systems on the exhaust stacks. I don't know exactly how it works but it reduces carbon and NOx emissions by a great amount. I would think it would be simple to bypass this system but even if you didn't it shouldn't affect HP. I would be willing to guarantee it will not be injected into the combustion cycle as it is not combustible and could cause less fuel to burn which would mean more pollution. I am not sure how much it will cost over the counter but I know in our systems it is relatively cheap and a little goes a loooooong way.

If this is the case then to me it seems the urea is a huge step in the right direction. It would be great if we could still tune our trucks and use the urea to cut down the emissions at the same time, or just not use it and not affect the operation of the vehicle.
