I like the idea of more filters but more filters does you no good if the first initial filter has a lower absolute micron rating than the filter on the stock filter head and if you use the same absolute micron filter on the filter head, whats the point?

case in point. if you put a CAT absolute 2 micron filter on the air dog instead of the normal air dog filters you get, you completely do away with the need for the factory 2 micron filter (which i believe is nominal at 90% or 50%, cant remember but its on here somewhere, OG filters from 01-04 were actually 10 micron as well). the 2 micron air dog filter that comes on is not that great and is 2 micron nominal at 50%. if you want to continue to run the stock AD filter, i would for sure run a CAT filter and adapter on the stock filter housing BUT then why spend the extra expense on the adapter and 2 filters when you can just run the CAT 1R0751 on the air dog with a little mod to two tabs. Running the stock AD filters and stock GM filters is throwing money away when a single CAT on the lift pump will catch more

My point is, those that say ditching the stock filter head is a dumb idea carry a little truth but only if you stick with stock filters. change the lift pump filter to the cat part number listed above and you have way better filteration than you had with the two stockers combined. Adding the adapter to a stock filter head after you already have the AD lift pump is wasting money as well. if you already had it, might as well keep the stock AD filters and run the CAT filter at the filter head or sell the adapter and make some money back.

Coker did a nice write up on installation and about the micron differences as well.

I’d like to respectfully disagree, I run the factor filter and the cat filter on the air dog. My filter will start to plug and I’ll change the cat airdog filter. After I do that a couple times my rail will still start to drop after changing the car airdog filter. Once I change the factor filter all is good again. The cat filter doesn’t catch everything, and I like the added protection of another filter.

understandable but that doesnt say much. it also means that it could very well be something else besides particles going through the media that are then plugging up the filter in which case, is till going through your fuel cp3 and injectors.

have you opened up a stock filter and split the media? when i ran the stock filter head and stock ad filters prior to the filter head removal, i never had the stock filter plug to the point of reducing rail and i only replaced that filter once over 3 years and 70,000 miles.

I’ll cut one open I’m going to change it again. But you run a baby tune you’ll never drop rail :poke:

I've never heard anybody refer to the Kennedy lift pump as shitty . Did you have problems with it?

It quit pumping sometime during it’s life even though it still ran. Could piss harder when I took the line off to pump out my full fuel tank when my crank broke. I’d have never known unless I ran a big tune-which I hadn’t for some time before that. My 3 y/o carter on my slip tank put it to shame lol. You will notice Kennedy doesn’t have a spec for flow, just pressure. With no filters or installation kit I wouldn’t waste my money again.

I’d have to agree. On my fass on my lbz I ran a water separator and a 10 micron, both Fleetguard, up to a Cat 2 micron with my own custom filter housing. Change the fleetguards every few months cuz they were almost free and the Cat in spring and fall. Never had an issue.

I really don’t understand how you guys down there plug up so many filters though. Do y’all buy it in old 5 gal pails or something?

I never got a spec on my single when I got it nor is there anything for a spec that I could find in KD documentation on their site so not sure where you’re getting the 120 gph from. Maybe you got different paperwork back in the day than what’s out now.

FWIW I only ran my KD for about 3 years or about 80 000 miles roughly.

Yes when pump kit was installed by me had all the documents present plus the website used to state 120gph at 8-9psi I think the pressure rating is on the kd fuel test gauge page the flow used to be on the twin pump filter combo kit page on the website unless it got removed. I guess if you spilt the difference the pump would have been rated at 60gph and 3-4psi they are also a flow through design unlike other designs unless they have updates as well
