I had code P2563 and installed a brand new turbo vane position sensor. Now i am getting code P2564. What exactly should i be looking for now? The wire is not pinched. Do i need to clean the vanes out, if so what is the easiest way to do so?

Thanks

Have you performed a relearn?

Once the engine is up to operating temperature if you let it sit and idle, in park, AC off it will do it automatically. I would clear the codes once those conditions have been met though. Just in case those codes will inhibit the relearn.

I believe it only takes 60 seconds of idle time once the above conditions are met to perform a relearn, but to be safe I would let it idle for a few minutes. You should also be able to hear the vanes cycle if you listen to the exhaust.

okay so turn the key clear the code with my v2 then start the truck in park with ac off and let idle for 2-3 minutes and listen for the vanes cycling. I will do it when I get home from work. Will report back tonight. Thanks:thumb:

Yes but the engine needs to be up to operating temp as well.

Get someone with a tech 2 to command vane position from 0% to 100% and make sure actual follows desired. I'll bet your vanes are sticking.

It's becoming pretty common anymore. It's actually the exciter ring that controls the vanes starts getting corroded or "carboned" up and doesn't rotate freely.

Some people have gotten by just cleaning and polishing everything up good. But so far all the ones I have found have been bad enough to warrant complete turbo replacement.

I would do some more diagnosis to be sure first....

Could still be a wiring problem. I would want to know for sure first.

Found the VPS pinched off. Rerouted that and use the mounting bracket where it plugs in. I did another relearn since i had it unplugged. So far so good.
