Well, because I hate myself, I picked up yet another project. A customer of mine whom I built a transmisison for in the past asked me if I'd be interested in this rust free 2006 CCLB DRW LBZ. For $3000 I couldn't turn the deal down.
-History/Backstory-
The story I was given is that the previous owner was driving it and it had a small engine fire that he was able to pull over and put out. It then got towed back to their concrete shop. The next day the owner comes in to find his employee(s) took the front of the truck apart without doing any diagnostic work. The owner then sold it to my customer whom has done absolutely nothing with it since 7/7/2023.
Based on the images and keying in on the turbo area, nothing looks burned/crispy. The CCV hose looks like it got a little warm but nothing insane. I personally haven't even put eyes on it as it was one of those "I've got 3 offers but I gave you first dibs" type things. For $3000, I can part the truck out and double my money so I wasn't worried.
-Usage-
My LB7 will now become just a "weekend warrior" and fun summer daily, this LBZ will be my winter daily and overall tow rig.
-Current Round of Upgrades-
This truck will be getting an AL flatbed (PJ or CM), built trans (converter TBD), JZ Mfg reman 63.5/66, and my old FASS 150 off my LB7, 3" bridge/CAC plumbing, 3" downpipe, 5" downpipe back (possibly with muffler to kill some whistle).
-Future Plans-
HP - I will eventually add a set of 60% area injectors and a ported OEM CP3 (sportsman/supersport/superstock/CP3k) to help keep the OEM LBZ pistons as happy as possible.
Interior - I need to do some digging on a few things. I still have my 05 fully loaded cab at the shop. I am going to see what it takes to put that dashboard/console into this truck as it's a WT interior. I don't really care about auto climate control but I would like to have steering wheel controls for audio as well as the console. WT rubber floor is a HUGE upside for me, especially in winter. I believe the console and steering wheel controls should be quite easy.
