2006 Chevy silverado dually 6.6 duramax diesel engine

hello all,
this is the label i found attached to the truck's cabin (front drivers side).
it's a dually 3500 silverado 6.6 duramax mated to a 6 spd automatic allison.

can any of you guys tell what are the HP and torque numbers of this 6.6 duramax diesel engine?
it says there LLY which is a model of the duramax 6.6 i know, but i think that on 2006 there were a few variations of this engine with different output ratings. i wonder if this label contains any info that could suggest which model this engine is and what are it's HP and torque output numbers.

Welcome!! Check the 8th digit of the vin#. If it's a 2 than you have a lly which is 310hp and if it's a D it's a lbz which is 360hp. Hope this helps.

where in the truck do i find the vin number?

this is an enlargement of the lower part of the picture above which shows a date - 09/22/05.

maybe this also can help with the identification.

Vin would be on the sticker inside the door jam, or at the base of the windshield on the driver side. You can also look in the glove box at the white sticker containing RPO codes that are in alphabetical order and find LLY or LBZ

Welcome, LLY/LBZ the LBZ tuning was not approved by the EPA IIRC so it received the LLY tuning and designation. 6 speed transmission, thumb shifter, LLY tuning can be updated to the LBZ HP/TQ ratings. Member on DF has a 2500HD with the LLY tuning LBZ motor and made an effort to upgrade the tuning via the dealer so as to not lose his used vehicle warranty through the Chevy dealership to no avail. Part for part an LBZ just not the tuning.

Easiest way to tell if your 06 is an LBZ or LLY, the door badge on the LBZ will have Allison on it and Duramax. The LLY will only have Duramax Diesel on it.

Yes, the LLY tuning with the LBZ motor 6 speed combination (I have a few pictures saved somewhere). Handirifle on DF has 2500HD with the 2 in the serial number with the LBZ motor/trans with the LLY tuning. When you order parts for the trans or motor you need to click the LBZ designation not the LLY.

these are pics of what i have in my 2006 silverado dually 3500.

i also have the digit 2 in the 8th place in my VIN.

i have LLY and MW7 in the front drivers side badge - pics of it above.

the badge also says it was manufactured on 9/25/2005.

do all these facts mean i have an LBZ motor with LLY tuning?

and if so, is it possible to retune it to LBZ specs and how can it be done?

I think your best bet would be to get some efi-live tuning from one of the vendors on this site. Can't go wrong with any of the tuners on here.
