2005 lly sliping on the high end

I have a 2005 lly duramax with 320,xxx miles. I did just time the truck with ppei. I know especially with that kind of miles I'm going to start breaking stuff. My issue is kinda odd though. In stock the truck will not go into limp mode anything over it will but only in the high end usually 80mph+ sometimes if I slightly increase it will hold fine others it will instantly go into limp, I'm guessing it's the trans but is there anyway it could be something else in the drive line? Maybe the torque converter or anything? I don't want to throw a bunch of money just to find out there's more to it or it's in a different component. Thanks in advance

5th gear is the easiest one to slip in.

did you get a check engine light? it should have if it went into limp mode, what was the trans code?

p0735 is an incorrect gear ratio for 5th, ask me how i know.

P0700 and P0802 were the codes and I figured it was the trans but worth asking if anyone has had other experiences besides transmission

Get a better scanner and try again. There are more p07xx codes

Clear the code, put stock tune in and see what it does. If it still limps you have a completely ****ed trans, if it drives well time for a built trans or stock only tune.
