GMC 2004 Duramax C4500 stuck in California - where the smog rules wont allow to renew, where to find an acceptable engine replacement to be compliant

Or perhaps a shop that can retrofit the required emissions components so it's legal in California

Can you provide some information about the vehicle?

Exact location, miles, cab/body configuration, pictures, modifications, history on the vehicle etc.

If you are trying to sell this vehicle using this forum, please read the rules regarding sales. Otherwise we will need to remove the post or edit the sale portion out of it.

If you just want to gather information on how to make the vehicle legal again after modifications then edit your post to reflect this. Otherwise, as stated above, we may remove it

As Brad stated, please provide more information regarding the current state of the vehicle and what makes it ineligible for sale. Your post is very slim on available information for us to work on

You Can't register Commercial Diesel vehicles older than 2010 for commercial use. Otherwise they must be retrofitted with an engine swap 2010 or newer with the emissions system and have it recertified or add a CARB approved DPF system.

The Truck and Bus regulation has been in effect since December 2008, as of January 1, 2023, all diesel-powered vehicles operating in California, with a gross vehicle weight rating over 14,000 lbs. must have a 2010 or newer engine and emission system with few exceptions. Affected vehicles that do not comply with the regulation will have their registration denied by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Thank you for terrific advice and guidence. I am not a car dealer or a truck dealer, this was in our fleet for the past 20 years. Here are details details for the truck. Its a model year 2004, has 210,000 miles GMC C4500 Duramax Diesel, flat bed. As i mentioned it runs great. I can post a photo. the intent of my post was to solicit options on what to do with the truck as i am unable to get a renewal of registeration as 1FastBrick stated in his post. it is located in Ontario, California. My intention was not to Join this form to sell anything, however as for advice and assistance as to where this truck can be sold to. Again, thanks for the prompt response and I appreciate your passion.

Understood. Please edit your first post to reflect this and remove the solicitation portion

Start an LLC in Nevada and register it there. IIRC Registration in Nevada is cheaper anyways.
That would only work for registration. California is going to start restricting them from operating here too if they don't have the required emissions equipment. So, either takes it out of state, or does the "upgrades"
