2004.5 bizarre AC behavior.

$75 VS 10 minutes of work, easy answer for me but I guess I'm a tightwad. And it's not really a sealed unit, pops right apart with a small screwdriver to release the tabs.


Would take more than 10 minutes to open the unit up and reseal it. Plus time the time for a band-aid fix... There are not bolts or screws holding it together. I like a good fix the first time...

FERM, I thought I was cheap...

I've actually done the same thing on the gmt800, along with soldering wires to the windshield wiper motor board to replace burnt up areas in the circuit board. A year later another area burnt up and I bit the bullet on a new board. Then I found out it was only 22.00 WTF!

Hey now, i used a hole punch and aluminum tape to repair the key fobs for my wifes car because i didnt want to spend $7 for a new case. And I've had more than one person on a weekend or late at night that was rather happy I grew up watching mcgyver, and can do fixes in a pinch.
