I have a 2001 LB7 with NEW heads, New BD Max Turbo and BD Downpipe, Full 4" Magnaflow exhaust, Reman injectors, ARP Studs, Reman Injection Pump, Banks Air filter box super scoop, Trans Upgraded w/tripple disc convertor, Airdog 165 lift pump, all new hoses, belt and pulleys, fresh fluids.
I now make 38psi of boost with EFI Live tune bases off off predator 85 tune I have. When I punch it I will get just into third gear and engine shuts off, injectors go to 0.0 as per EFI live data recording (I saved file).
Anyone else have the same issues after bigger turbo install?
Did not do this before but boost never went over 26-28psi?
Anything in EFI that I can change to stop this and allow the higher boost levels?

Thank You.
Jeff

If you installed a new turbo without changing tuning, it can do some weird stuff. Your wastegate sounds like its set much to high. Then again that might be just right for that turbo. As for shutting down; sounds more like a computer issue than anything else, if it's just dying without putting up a fight.

Thanks for quick replies,
More info...
when engine shuts down, not off, injectors go to 0.0mm as per EFI data recording then i lift off of pedal and slowly power will return, Injectors start firing again, if I stomp on it again it will shut off again, if I feather it and keep boost under 30PSI it will run fine.
I am running OS 15188873 and calibration 9388505.
what 2002 OS do I need?

Thanks Again...

Just so you know all of our truck after so many rpms the injectors go to reading all 0.0 mm on the efi and on a tech 2. So you have other limits hurting you at this point.

Here is the deal on 2001 OS and duramax issues.

During EFI-Live beta testing in 2005/2006 of which I was a part of it was discovered that some handheld tuners did not properly remove the speed limiters on the trucks and the return to stock option did not return the trucks to stock calibrations.

It was the biggest problems on 2001 trucks, in addition the 2001 computers are unique as far as the part numbers, they differ physically from the 2002-2004 LB7 computers.

It was found that the 2002 OS/15186006 was the best OS to use in all 2001/2002 trucks and for the last 7 years I have updated all of the 2001 trucks I have tuned to a 2002/15186006 OS.

I use only clean TIS files which have never been corrupted by a flash tuner.

So to answer your question it could be the OS, it could be a limp issue, low rail psi, etc.

If you want a clean/stock/OS just tell me your options for transfer case switching, electronic or manual and if you have a short or long bed and I will email you the correct stock file for your truck and you can start there.

Or you can purchase a tuned ecm with a switch from me and send the 2001 ecm back as a core.

;)

I have electronic 4x4 shift, 8' bed extended cab 2500HD.
Would be very interested in the DSP5 swap out.
Does the reprogamed ecm come with the switch and wire to install in the harness? Or do I need to get them?
I can send you my cell number or if you send me yours I would like to go over my options, specs of rebuild and see what tunes I can get.
I just love hearing the fords rattle as I pass them...lol:roflmao:

Thank You

Jeff

Thank you for your explanation. So even though the 2001 PCM has a different part number, it will still accept the 2002 OS & calibrations?

Yes, a Full Flash will update it to the 2002 OS, the only issue is you can never go back to the 2001 OS as it will cause the oil life to go to 0% and nothing can be done to undo it.

So if you switch it to a 2002 OS you can never go back to the 2001 OS.
