Question: 2001 cummins

I know this a duramax forum. I have a buddy that trade his 1998 12 valve for a 2001 24 valve. He put a smarty so3 on it and we took it to the drag strip run a 11.10 in the 1/8 mile. Which he was not happy with now he is wanting to stack a chip on it. His wife ask me to help her find him one for his bday. So do any of you guys have any good ideas of a good chip. I'm not to happy with the fact of stacking but there ain't many choices for this truck.( please no bashing for the stacking). He would really like to keep the smoke out put low as he can

Edge comp box is a good plug in module for those also. get one of those in conjunction with a set of DDP nozzles and a good lift pump they can run pretty good. Edge comp box with the hot unlock is 150hp and 350 ft lbs. biggest issue with the VP44 is if the lift pump goes bad it takes out the VP44 injection pump. good idea to put a fuel pressure gauge in the cab to make sure it never goes below 5psi.

Well we are putting a raptor lift pump on it this weekend. Oh yeah here is some info on the truck brand new injection pump, injectors,fuel pump, brand new lines everything. It was a older mans truck and the injection pump went bad and the dealership told him it need all new stuff. Oh yeah it has a rebuilt tranny in it too.

Edge Drag Comp or Quadzilla Adrenaline, if you can find one, are both good boxes. I'd recommend a fuel pressure gauge or at least a low pressure warning light for the lift pump. If the pressure drops to the injection pump, it won't last long.

i had a 02 24vcummins before my dmax,I had 75hp sticks and a edge comp box,did good also had a airdog150,few other mods,the edge did pretty good,

Yeah I was looking at the edge box but I looked at the tst anyone heard of it. I'm just trying to help him the best way I can.

they work good too but i dont think they have as much as the egde. what is he wanting to do with this pickup?

He will be pulling in the local pulls. Yes I told him to keep the 12 valve. We had already had stuff done to it. 3k spring,no fuel plate,the raptor,afc mods(for more rack travel),a better return valve for the fuel. The 12 valve would smoke the 24 valve.

I have had both an edge hot unlock and now the adrenaline on my 01
. I like the adrenaline a lot more with more options but now that they are out of business there is no customer service. Both are good in my opinion. And as stated above I would def put an airdog or fass on the truck.

Did the edge smoke a lot his trying to keep the smoke level down as much as he can

I think the powermax cr was a good box and the vp one was just okay. Or maybe it was the other way around?
