2 Stroke Oil - Injector fix?

I 've read in other threads about different ratio amounts of 2 cycle oil to diesel for injector issues. I have a balance rate of +8 and am not counting on this to fix my problem, but why not giver a shot?

Anyone have any experience or suggestions on a mixture ratio?

Run as much as you want lol... Id go 1qt to a half tank. I just kinda pour some in each time.

I run it most tanks at anywhere from 500:1 to 200:1. Hasn't seemed to particularly help the injectors, but it does noticeably help my FPR stick less, which means less or no lope at idle.

I've heard that running 5W30 oil in the tank is okay also?

Reading all of these threads with used oil, veggie oil, and 2 stroke oil makes me courious. I understand that most are Filtering the oils first.

a very wise fellow on this forum gave me something to try when i had an injector "going bad".....


pull off your fuel filter and fill it half to 2/3 atf and the rest power service and run that.

i did and a truck that wouldn't do 15mph without sputtering and having an injector hang was driving down the road about an hour later.

I understand used motor oil needs to be filtered but, New 2 stroke oil doesn't need to be, or does it?

Anyone else try something like this? I've heard of putting it in the tank but this sounds like a blast of atf through the fuel system for a detergent wash or something. I guess its worth a try.

Seriously? Thats amazing but what do you have to lose at that point,nothing. Is it still running good?

As far as 2-stroke oil I have switched to using it myself and there is NO DOUBT about it with the ULTRA-LITE sulfur in todays pump fuel 2-stroke oil is a proven winner for a smooth idle ,quiet running best bang for your buck out there! Occasionally my FRPCV will give a lope but no where as severe as it was. I haven't checked my balance rates In awhile I don't go looking for trouble.

As far as the ratio I dump a min of a pint to as much as a quart per fill up. IMO the more the merrier. Hasn't proven to give ill effects to anyone. I wish it bumped up the cetane rating . Thats the only thing that the other additives do besides disperse water and anti-gel but I don't worry about that myself.

Straight out of the bottle is fine. It's mixed with gas straight out of the bottle why would diesel be different? :confused:

I have seen balance rates get better with a mix of power service and two stroke oil.

I can tell you this, after seeing my injectors and what it looks like inside when they go bad, two stroke oil only masks the inevitable for a little bit. I was a regular user of it (1 quart every fill up) when injectors were last replaced and even with balance rates no nore than +-2 before the rods bent, the injectors were shot. They had 65k on them. The oil only fills the voids inside from pitting/cutting from the fuel so it seems as though its helping but the damage has already been done. Ill still run it as the motor is quiter and i dont see it hurting one thing but its not preventing anything either. Guy at socal did the testing on them and these injectors were also pre-chrome ball and seat. The chrome will help way more than the oil IMOP. Thats just for us LB7 guys

For your lbz, its probably time to take it out and send it off to be tested. That will tell you way more than any of can tell you. If all 8 cost 400-500 bucks to be tested, i doubt it would be much more than 50 bucks for a single. Could be wrong though.

I fill the filter with power service every filter change.
I read a thread the other day on here that a guy posted an independent study on diff additives that was quite interesting. After reading it I ordered some Optilube summer blend as it looked to be the best bang for the buck as far as lube goes and it has cetain boost in it.
I will post it up if I can find it.

I do agree any additive isn't going to "fix" something that is wore out that needs replacement. I also believe that it will although if nothing is wore out needing replacement, prolong life and stop something from sticking with added lubricity. Not so sure of 2-stroke being any type of cleaning agent.

Exactly why Exergy is the place for injectors. Especially LB7s. After buying mine, I was glad knowing I wasnt dropping 3k on injectors that didn't have upgraded internals (chrome ball seat). Much better than the run of the mill "Remans" that will no doubt last no longer than original problematic sticks. You get what you pay for people!!!!

He does it all in house the same way exergy. Either guy or exergy are my suggestion. Below are the pics of the "burn, erroded" seat.

I had my injectors done by Exergy but I don't see info on their website as to pre-chrome ball and seat.
