Hi, I have a 2002 Chevy 2500hd that I want to put a 2 slot radio in and take out the 1 1/2 slot radio, or whatever you call it. Someone told me that I need to get a new dashboard trim out of a 2003 1500, tahoe, or suburban to do this. I was wondering if this is true or if it is what all else to I need to get to do this.

i did it in my 2002 2500 and used a hack saw blade by hand and made some room way in the back, had to trim down the far rear bracket but i got a double din Pioneer GPS in there, it was a bitch but she just fit, used same trim as well, not sure if i have a picture any more but it was in the white GMC in my pics
There's a few companies that sell the new dash bezel and kits to run iPads and such I looked into it but don't want to relocate my a/c controls.
Hopefully this will work. Do I just have to use that particular 2 slot radio with that kit or can I use any 2 slot radio?
90% of the double din radios will work just run a Google search for " Chevy Silverado double din install" lots of informative write ups and google image has pictures. As far as I understand all you really need to do is trim some stuff inside the dash.? I may and can and sometimes am wrong tho
