I know all the manual trucks had 1480's and 2007 NBS and up have the 1480's in all of them. Most everyone up-grades to my 1480 billet yokes if they had the 1410 in there pulling truck.
I have an 02 CCSB with 1 piece aluminum drive shaft. I replaced the rear u joint about 2500 miles ago and now there is play in the retaining straps. the retaining straps were not changed. I didn't notice the play when it was installed. I'm asking because I need to replace my yoke because there is a groove worn in the seal surface on the yoke sleeve and it wont stop leaking. Can you install a 1480 yoke in a truck that had a 1410 from the factory or do you need to change the drive shaft as well?
I don't understand it either, my truck, a 2002 gmc ccsb has a two piece steel drive line yet my buddy who has a 2002 gmc ccsb, the same damn truck has a one piece aluminum. And by the way damn I hate my two piece.
Old thread I know but that is the first I heard of a CCSB having a two piece drive shaft. I was under the impression or assumption that the two piece drive shafts were used on the CCLB. Everyone else either got the Light Pole or One Piece Steel.
MOST CCSB I've seen have the Alum (Light pole) drive shaft. There was no rhyme to reason on this subject figured out who got what. For the record I have the Alum shaft in my ECLB dually.
I have a CCSB and it has a 2 piece. But mine is also a 2wd. I was under the impression that any of the ccsb or longer trucks 2wd's had the 2 piece. The 4wd ccsb had either one, but the longer trucks most definitely had a 2 piece. But that is just what I understood from a discussion I remember on DP a few years back.
2 wheel 4 wheel might play into it but the guy I quoted appears to have a 4x4. So again makes no sense when they are on both configurations. I recall the discussion on the DP and it was never figured out if I recall there either.
Maybe the additional weight of the steel 1 piece required a better spec than the light alum 1 piece or the very heavy 2 piece with the third bearing (carrier).
