We noticed that Casper has 1.375" U-joints from the factory, but Blue and Wendy have .875" U-joints.

Anybody know why?
Blue is a 04.5 3500 SRW, 2-pc steel driveshaft
Casper is a 05 2500HD, one pc steel
Wendy is a 06 LBZ 2500HD, one pc aluminum

Is there in fact a Mega-Driveshaft from the factory? Why do only certain trucks get them?

Not sure if this helps at all but when I did the swap on my truck I got the engine and transmissions out of a bus and the trans and rearend u-joints were 1480 series. I left the trans the same but could not find a 1480 yoke for the rearend so I had to go with a 1410.

Casper is 1 pc steel, Wendy is 1 pc aluminum, Blue is 2-pc steel.

So it might just be those with 1 pc steel that get the bigger U-joints. I have no idea though.

I have always wondered why the ccsb got aluminum drive shaft and all the other dmax got steel.

no they don't :D

Correctomundo.

While nearly all trucks on the lot have the G80 option, it can be ordered without.

I had never seen one without it, so I assumed they all had it. I was proven wrong.

The G80 always comes with the Heavy Duty Power Package, and all Dmaxes have the AAM 1150 axle.

Driveshafts? There are 3 wheelbases, and 2 transmission configs:

RC or ECSB are the short frame.
CCSB or ECLB are the medium frame.
CCLB is the long frame. All long frames get 2-pc steel, whether 2wd or 4x4.

I have not figured out the other two though.

Casper One (ECSB 2wd) had aluminum, yet Casper Two (ECSB 4x4) had steel.

It's freakin' confusing as hell... :D

I don't understand it either, my truck, a 2002 gmc ccsb has a two piece steel drive line yet my buddy who has a 2002 gmc ccsb, the same damn truck has a one piece aluminum. And by the way damn I hate my two piece.

CCSB and ECLB are different wheel bases also. I have a ECLB with the alumn drive shaft and 1410 you joints. Sting has the big u joints in his 06

Question:

What is 1410 or 1480? Is there a lookup table for these specs, or is it a measurement? Like 1.410"?

I'm measuring the u-joint needle bearing cap diameters. It became important when I got new retaining straps and they didn't fit.

I'll check on the Canada thing on the three trucks.

I believe 1410 and 1480 refers to the series of u-joint in the Spicer line. When I've had to get u-joints for my truck, I go to the local driveline shop and just tell them i need a couple 1480's.
