2 drag radials on a 4x4?

Just wondering if anyone has run drag radials on the rear of there truck in 4x4. Obviously you would want them the same height as your dot tires on the front. I would think it would depend on how much the drag radials squat, basically changing the gear ratio front to rear. And it wouldn't be as effective as 4 drag radials I understand, I just don't know if it would be worse than just running 4 dot tires. And of course it would be half the price and half the hassle of putting them on at the track. Looking for opinions and anyone who has maybe tried it and actually has a real opinion about if it worked well.

And if anyone is wondering I'm talking about running it in 4 wheel drive, just to clear that up.
Just thinking budget friendly. Don't want it to end up costing me a t case though lol.

I'm thinking the front would have enough traction to transfer weight to the rear, where you would hit the radials good. Plus maybe a little easier on the front end parts.

I'd say no, a softer drag tire will grow taller with speed compared to a dot radial tire. The difference would be miniscule, but enough to damage or bind up the driveline. If you buy two, just get good enough ones to run it in 2wd.

Would it be any different than me having belts showing back tires and fresh tires on the front like I do currently? I bet I have at least a 3/8 of an inch difference in overall diameter at the moment with no issues in 4x4. But i do get what your saying, and a drag radial is alot stickier.

Ya at 100mph running WOT I wouldn't risk it. You would have to physically verify the size of the tires when they were mounted with air in them to make sure they were comparable to what's on your truck now.

What about people who run different pressures front to rear? Wouldn't that be the same effect? And i agree on checking the height mounted

I'm sure I do, that's my point. I've done over 100 in 4x4 with pretty bald tires out back, fronts are always good lol. And always goes right in and out of 4x4. Never acts weird or anything and that's with a spool in the rear as well. Not saying a drag radials wouldn't be different. That's why I'm asking if anyone has tried it.

I'm gonna agree with purehybrid. A drag radial is always gonna Balloon more at a higher speed than a dot tire. And there's gonna be alot more difference in the change of size in tires when you compare a drag radial and dot then if you compare tire wear of two dot tires.

If you size the tires right it might not be a big deal your first run but you may run into a problem later on.

So how much does a drag radial expand?

When you have 4 drag radials and your doing say 100 mph, and they have equal pressure. Does the front and back expand the same? when the front two have way more weight on them?

I was just reading on ls1 tech, what it says there is the radial slicks don't really expand or grow. A true slick it says can grow up to an inch and a half at 150 mph on average. It says that by design the radial slicks don't do it, and it doesn't say in comparison to a slick. It just says they dont. Now I'm sure it depends on manufacturer and size, but everywhere I read tends to agree on this, which it's just something I read online. Anyone have any opinions on that?

Yeah everything I read says drag radials don't grow, finding a matching size is the difficult part.
