For all you guys running 2.6 how are you doing the rear driver side shock mount? I'm taking out the spare tire bracket and the shock mount is part of it. I'm thinking about putting a 4x4 piece of square tubing across to replace it. I'm doing al of this to get my hitch further forward and have a mounting point for a secondary hitch. Any info would be great, thanks

We just cut the majority of it out and left part of the drivers side that had the shock mount attached. Are you going all out and making that solid within the rules? If so I would do that and not worry about how strong that shock mount is as there will be not load on it.

I would still like the shock to be functional. Not ready to go all out with the truck just yet.

Mine is still street driven.

In the PPL rules it states you must have a shock on each side of the rear axle. On a dedicated 2.6 truck here in MN they had to weld the bracket back on quick before Scheids.

Shocks, what are those?! You can cut out just the bottom half of the spare tire carrier. Or you can take it out entirely. Just put like a 1 1/2 square tube cross member back in and weld a bracket to that.

That's what I'm thinking but probably a little big then that as I will us that crossmember as the pivot point for my secondary hitch

I was going to say, crap you don't need a 4"x4" steel tube for the shock mount! :spit: If it's going to be part of the hitch though, that's understandable. :thumb:
