I pulled for the first time few weeks ago, I would let your torsion bars down all the way. I left at around 1800 rpm then started rolling then just layed into it. I had it in 4lo, 3rd gear and tow haul. As far as intake I have an afe because I got it on sale otherwise id get a S&B

No pro but I come from a family that dose nothing but hook to a Alex or bumper to bumper. Back when I was pullin mine pretty often in workstock, I'd take the bolt out of the torsion bars, and if they will allow hanging weights (and you can fab up a rack and mounts) it helps a lot on these trucks! I know people are going to say I'm crazy about this but with my tranny built I would run high lock 1st. It's plenty enough speed and has a awesome range of power and boost! Good luck and keep us posted how ya do!:thumb:

Lower bars, get traction bars, a good hitch, and be right on with weight. Don't worry about intake. At your power level its not worth it imo. 4lo 3rd. Don't pull in high.

i would be worried about them sleeves. watched my buddy leave the track plowing dirt when he had sleeves

The sleeves probably saved his CV's from total failure.

Sleeves only keep the toe-in from completely kinking the tie-rod and putting even more stress on the CV's. If he's plowing dirt, it time for some sort of bracing or straight centerlink.

You aren't crazy, we've had guys who pull on light weight sleds just fine in high range. Then they come to try and drag our sled in High range and usually leave on a flatbed (puking tranny fluid and toasting the converter).

A lot depends on what your dragging.

if your cvs, control arms, and tierods are all straight the way it is should you still lower the torsion bars?

Yes. Make sure it is at 8000lbs if you want a chance at finishing towards the top of the pack. If you are pulling in East Troy, no weights in the cab, all of them have to be in the bed.

If you don't drop the bars and unload as much spring tension as possible the front end will lift easier causing a loss of hitch height and more angle on your cv's and tie rods which could resullt in broken or bent parts. Then all the dodge guys will laugh at you :roflmao:

Its not to bad on it. When its in low range its less stress on the tranny.
