Well called BTR and confirmed with them what I should do. They think a flat top (-3.2CC for reliefs) with rods (I'm going K1 HD), their "Red Hot" cam, AFR enforcer heads etc should run VERY well on pump and e85. This would net ~10.7:1 compression which they indicated would be fine at 15-18psi (don't know if that's pump or e85 but I have zero issue swapping pulleys).

The big thing is getting parts ordered so I can get the engine to the machine shop. I don't know when I need to use an o-ring or fire-ring but they indicated a good gasket like a Cometic MLX would be perfectly fine when paired with a decent head fastener.
I Blew past 20lbs on factory GM LS9 gaskets and regular ARP head studs a few times. As long as you don't exceed that, you shouldn't need to O ring it. The tune is whats critical here.

Good to know! I did order the below parts yesterday. K1 is having a 25% off sale and TSP has the rods price matched already. I went with the "HD" rod as it was ~$30 more for the set. I will be using ARP hardware everywhere and H bearings. The Wegner drive kit (for the 3L Whipple) uses an ATI damper so that's covered already when I order that kit.

I decided to go 0.030" overbore to ensure the cyl walls cleaned up and also to ensure I got a fresh hone surface for ring seat.

K1 stuff is good, I’m running their crank and rods in my 408. Did you go overdrive on the balancer?
I don't have the balancer yet, I will when I order the Wenger drive kit. They run a 5th gen camaro offset with 10 rib for the blower drive and a standard 6 rib for accessories.

As far as I understand these are internal balance engines and don't need to be balanced with flexplate/damper so I have not ordered them yet. If both are required I will call Wegner and order the damper they use.
