One thing that I have noticed, is rail pressure higher than 26k psi yielded a lot hotter EGT's with little to no gain hp wise.

Ha-ha wrong. Get a new tuner lol. 2,500 psi more made 75 hp to the tires on my truck and no worst egt. You were probably out of air and couldn't use the fuel
I'm telling you that one dyno pull made x amount and the next one with more pressure made 75hp more and my EGTs are always in check.
Some people actually tune for absolute max pressure. Like whatever the pumps will make.
