Guys i need some help finding out what the maximum allowed EGT's are on a 08 LMM dually.
I've allready bought one turbo and I'm still hitting upwards of 1500 degrees on a stock pickup while pulling a trailer and 1450 empty. And that's with the cruise control set!
That just doesn't seem right to me and I'm afraid I'm gonna burn it up.

Can someone please help me out here.

Don't know how to help (assuming you've already removed the emissions stuff), but even with - that's pretty hot.

The LMM runs hotter than my LLY ever did. With towing 10k lbs, my LMM gets to 1300 regularly and hit 1400-1450 when in regen. My truck is all stock, so if something goes, she's under warranty. Not sure what non-warranty things can be done to help it other than get out of the throttle a little bit and down shift.

Following the thread to see what advice you get and how you make out.

sorry guys I've all ways been more of a lurker than anything else.

Truck is COMPLETELY stock. After the Turbo melted and the exhaust got yellow hot from the DPF back i put a Edge insight monitor on it to see what was going on and then took it to the dealership. Turbo vane position control was completely shot and No warranty on the truck because they said i had the edge on it and that the torque reading in the TCM was too high.

I'm fighting that with the BBB right now and will take it to a lawyer if i have to but i need help figuring out what the problem is first.

Oh and remember i'm still getting these numbers with the cruise control set at 65mph. Hell i can hit 1400 just going over an overpass empty at 65.

WOW. yea that's a bit warm. i would say you should be looking into either doing a twin turbo set up or just some water/meth to drop the egts. also, doing a DPF delete and new exhaust wouldn't be a bad idea either... now that you don't have a warranty that is.

yeah but i'm trying to beat the fight and get my warranty back. The edge insight doesn't add any power it's just guages and should not have voided any warranties! correct?

Should a stock pickup do this?

correct the insight doesn't add any power. bring you reciept and a print out of the insight in and they won't have a leg to stand on.

it's tough to say where to start but air in would be the best bet. boost, intercooler and air intake.

yeah but where do i need to start

First i would def. take it too a different dealer. Just curious why didn't you get normal gauges as opposed to an Edge Box? Most dealerships don't care if you have gauges but if they see an Edge they automatically say claim declined and charge you for the work. (Sorry you had to find out the hard way though:()

Personally, I think your getting the shitty end of the stick on the warranty claim. Like paint said take it to another dealer. Also tell them to check the ECM for any power adder. I believe they can see it on a LMM.

Mine never gets that hot while towing but I kick it down a gear once it gets to around 1100:eek: going up hills.

I would go to another dealer as stated. Did they tell you what the torque reading in the tcm was by any chance?

I've done all that and alot more folks. The dealership is not the problem, it's the regional GM rep that made the callafter they sent a picture of the compter screen to the main people at GM.

I can't remember what the reading was but i think they said it was in the 750 - 760 ft/lbs range.

I'm really just trying to get ideas on whats causing the heat and fix it. then i'll have a foot to stand on when i get a lawyer on them.

Fighting the warranty BS is not what I would have my priorities set on. GM, Ford and Dodge warranties are joke anyway, I have never used them on my trucks, on the 03 LB7 it has eatin up 4 sets of injectors and they were stood behind with a POS bullydog unit on it, but we were not expecting them to stand behind it.

Your temps are high no doubt, there is an issue. I would load up a tune from someone that is proven to run good for many people and see how your truck does. Maybe the edge unit did alter something you are not aware of.

I'm in agreement with you about the warranty, it's not my main concern. I'm just trying to find the problem.

The problem existed before the edge insight. I just got the edge to see what was going on.
