What rear end is this in my 2006 Chevrolet Express Van. It still has the decal with the information about it but can't figure out some things about it. I do know that its a 3.73 gear.

Picture of said rear axle? I would think its either going to be a 10.5 or 9.5 14 bolt, but it could be a Dana, too.

This is the tag on my rear end of my 2006 Chevy Express Van and the best pic that I could get of the cover. It is a 12 bolt cover. Is their anyone that can tell me more about this rear end.

Rearend?

This is the rear end thats in my 2006 Duramax powered Chevrolet Express Van. This is the tag that's still on the axle tube and the best picture of the 12 bolt cover. Is there anyone that can give me information on this rear end. I know it has a 3.73 gear.

Did some digging. A standard dana 70 is only 10 cover bolts, but the dana 70hd and dana super 70(70S, S is for super) is 12 cover bolts. That axle is a 10.75" ring gear from what I can find, has almost all the pro's of the older dana 70hd, only difference I could find was the dana 70hd was for dually's and had 4" axle tubes while the dana super 70 is for a single rear wheel and slightly smaller axle tubes. It is a very beefy axle falling between the 14 bolt full floater and the 11.5" aam.

Ferm, Dallas -- thank you very much. :)

One thing Ive been wondering thru this thread is why did GM use a Dana axle in the vans when they were using AAMs throughout the rest of the truck lineup?
