Engine block that is...

After 2 years of buying LB7 engines, finally found a good block and crank to start from.

Picked up block and crank from the machine shop yesterday, jet cleaned and mag'd, everything A-OK. :thumb:

Time to buy parts

I have no ETA of the shortblock, I will eventually pull my engine out and transfer the heads etc when this block is ready. Dont wanna have the truck down for a long time, stilll wanna enjoy it

Enjoy it holding down your garage floor? haha Nice to hear you got a good one finally. Now if you start a "what should my build be?" thread I might kill you. :D

Rods are easy. It's kind of hard to make a bad decision with what is available now. I still think pistons is the tough one.

With as little as I drive my truck (4500 miles this past year) its clear to use Forged, but at the same time I will not be at that power level. Cut LB7 stockers is what I was planning.

going for 12s in a gutless lowered truck now? For the cost I would cut and coat the old stock pistons. For what you use the truck for I would rather count DSP 5 passes than adding up every trip towards a rebuild

So Cal.
Congrats on the new good block!

Hmmm...

Rods? I think in your case tin foil rods would be just fine (for your power level):thumb:
Pistons? 300,000 mile LBZ's should be fine (at your power level) :D

I cant believe you wasted all those blocks on a truck that make less then 500 rwhp (dont try and Bs me with dyno numbers):D:roflmao:

question #1, this block came from a truck that had a headgasket failure between #5 & 7 cylinders. It may or may not need decking, but I personally would feel more comfortable doing so. Would it be best decking? I dont even know how much would be needed to remove, so this is why I ask. 2-3 thousandths?

How ever much you need to take it off to make it flat.....

I saw your enigne for the supercharged V8 swap into the rado on the dyno, should be fun! seems your sized engine
