I like to race 1/8 mile on an 1/8 mile track and 1/4 mile on a 1/4 mile track.

1/8 is nice because you arent as likely to blow up the engine.
:rofl::popcorn:
but I prefer 1/4 mile.

I'm a 1/4 mile guy, 1/8 mile seems slow, short and not very exciting. A lot can change or happen in 1320ft.

The Kingman Street Drags were 330ft. because they used a city block to hold the races, it was fun and actually pretty tough, it came down to launch and reaction time, but just when the truck would take over an start doing what it does, the race was over. I cleaned house there anyway though lol :joker:

Even though running 1/8 is one less shift for me, Id very much rather run 1/4, thats what drag racing is supposed to be!

I don't prefer one over the other, they are both fun. I will say this, nobody cares what your car/truck runs in the eighth. They always ask "What would that be in the quarter?"

x2... "Hey man, what does you truck run?" if you say 7.50's in the 1/8th most people have no idea what that is or what is translates too... if you say it runs 11.80's in the 1/4 then they know that is fast. they only time i lift in a pass is if my 1/8th ET is bad i will lift during TnT

Around my home town we only have three local tracks all are 1/8 mile and if you can't cut an 0 light it is over for ya, there is not that extra 660 to make it up. I can cut 0 lights all day so the 1/8 is ok with me:happy2:

one of the best parts in the 1/4 is the run down on the other car if you cut a bad light thats what makes it a race. But what I like most is the rush listening to the engine scream and hoping you set it up good so you can drive it home. My old truck was a 69' C-10 with a 427 from the 1/8 to the 1/4 it would go from 7800 to 8100 rpm nothing beats the sound

1/4. Used to race the 1/8 only in San Diego, all they had. Made a few trips to OC, Pm and AZ with the car to run 1/4 and was hooked. Big difference between 100 mph and 140 mph... :D
