1.6L diesel for 2018 GMC Terrain

Just saw an email come from GM about the GMC Terrain and they have option for a 1.6L diesel. What engine is that? The Cruse has a 2.0L and the Colorado and Canyons have a 2.8L. Is this the same architecture or way different.

The 1.6 is a totally different engine family than the 2.0 and 2.8. Theyre good engines from what ive seen

Are they going to put that motor in the new Cruze diesel? Could be wrong but I thought it wasn't a 2.0 Italian motor anymore in the Cruze.

New cruze will have the same engine as the terrain. Also will have a manual option that should beat the 9 speed in mpg

Look at the shifters in these. Worst design ever. Only thing that might be worse is the terrible Chrysler shifters

I've kinda wanted a Cruze diesel stick. I had a 13 Passat and the thing was legit. That Cruze looks good too haha. Would be fun to turn one up.

Im hoping somebody comes out with tunes and deletes sometime in the near future.

Any update for these engines as far as reliably/MPG, what are they like to drive? I had my sister ask me about the engine as she is looking at a new Terrain.

In warmer weather I average about 50-51mpg with this cold weather its been down to about 46-47 on average. Car drives great, it does exceptionally well in the snow also. I don't have a single complaint about it. We have been running them for a few years without any major malfunctions. Last one I ran had over 3000 hours on it.
