I have an electric start (key buttons) for my truck and in the Summer time the A/C automatically comes on when starting from the outside but now that it's winter the heat doesn't seem to go on automatically when I electric start? It only goes on once the key is inserted into the ignition. Is this just a featureless option of the 2008 LTZ (like bluetooth) or am I missing something?? I tried with and without the AUTO button on inside. Heat on and heat off... Any have any insight on this??

I know it's a stupid "Luxury" question, but I can ask because I actually have luxury now. My only ride was a 92 Jeep Wrangler with no luxuries for 15 years.
THANKS!!

On my 2003 (no remote start, but bear with me), the A/C will kick on immediately on startup with the controls on auto. However, the heat & fan won't for a good 5 minutes (unless it thinks it needs defrost, which kicks on immediately).

I think the reason for this is the engine is too cold, and blowing cold air around the cab doesn't help anything, and "feels" colder. Once I started driving and got some heat on the gauge, the fan would kick on with a vengeance. Perhaps the new trucks do something similar?

How long does it idle before you get in?

DAVe3283 - Ya know I was thinking it had something to do with the engine not being warm enough to produce heat so why blow cold air...

Ne-Max - now you got me thinking again.. I know the GMC's tend to be more "Luxurious" but still I have most of the bells n whistles..

- Wonder if the Dealership would know - I'll try making a call now..

Ohh.. Now your just rubbing it in!! I called the Dealer and they looked it up and if it has the climate control.. which mine does (and also has NAV and rear DVD player eh-ehm..) then it should automatically come on for both heat and A/C. Mine works with the A/C but not the heat. Maybe it needs to run sometime before it goes on?... or maybe it's gone "cold" on me? haha:D

So you also have an electric start and auto climate and when you start it from outside the heat doesn't come on instantly?? Hmmm. Wonder if that could be what's up with mine? I've never waited that long before getting in. One thing I found strange about the climate control is that it didn't seem to have a A/C on off button. I just gathered that it just automatically turns the A/C on at a specific temp and vice versa with the heat (when + or - the degree selector)? But.. when I was just playing with it at lunch time today. I did see a button that looks like a possible snow flake in the climate control next to the defroster buttons. Basically I need to have a one-to-one with the manual and some cold ones to just mess around with these "luxury" features. Heck when I first parked it in my garage I manually folded the mirrors in by hand not knowing there was an auto folding button.... and...... locked the keys in the truck the first weekend owning it.... HAHA! :roflmao:

Part that I don't get though is if it uses the auto climate what triggers the defrost, seats and mirrors? Cause those don't come on if I use me key to start it.
