So that being said, could my neighbor who works at a chevy garage put a lbz tune on mine or is there more to it than that because lbz's didn't have manuals?

I've never tried putting an auto tune in a manual equipped truck, but I doubt I would work. Also, I doubt a Tech 2 would allow that.

True "Lbz" trucks never had zf transmissions. Only 06 'lily' trucks came with them. But like josh said your 06 'lly' truly is an Lbz with a different tune. I have had a couple Lbz zf trucks on the dyno and they made from 240 to 250 rwhp. What is the date your truck was built? Check the drivers door tag. November of 05 or later?

I don't understand why people would want to put LBZ stock tuning in a truck that is a supposed LLY... If everything is identical to an LBZ motor, put efi on it and more then likely any good tuner is going to put the max effort tranny safe tuning on it which is more then likely equivalent to a normal Lbz with efi?!

It says 09/05 but it is an 06 by the vin number.

Window sticker says 300hp and 520tq

As far as putting the lbz tune on it being a waste if would agree but if it would be easy to do my neighbor would do it for a couple beers.

That is an "early" Lbz.... Not sure when but I think after November they got the newer style head gaskets. So one thing to be aware of is you probably have the older style non-rivited gaskets.

Your truck is the same as an LBZ except the tune in the ECM.

Exactly. Once you start tuning it, there is no difference in the power you can make vs a "true" lbz. All is the same except the initial tune. Not sure if a Tech 2 will load it or not. If you get an efi license the tune can be adjusted pretty easily to stock lbz levels and reflashed.

You go much above stock and when it starts slipping will depend on how you drive it. My brothers started slipping pretty soon after tuning it. But he's a different breed. :woott:

And go straight to a dual disk.

Eff me. I might as well just put an economy tune on it then. That was one of the reasons I got an 06. Its got 129k on it, should I be worried about the head gaskets?

Thanks for the encouragement. This thing kind of has me afraid because of how much everything cost to fix no matter what it is. If my trailblazer blows a head gasket I'm out $120 and a couple hours time. Its like everything is cheap in an ls based motor as long as you don't trash the block compared to a Dmax.
