Hey guys, I am having a little issue with my 7 pin trailer harness on my truck. It's all factory installed.

First off, all light work when trailer hooked up. Trailer brakes work. I don't have any 12 constant power at the plug. I researched and found that the wires are hooked up in the under hood fuse panel and the 40 amp fuse is installed and it's good. I quickly checked all the small fuses for trailer and all seem good.

At the plug at the back, with truck running I am only getting 1 volt give or take a bit. When I turn on the signals and lights it goes all over the map from 3 volts to 12 then all the numbers in between.

Any idea what could cause this before I start ripping and tearing the harness run apart looking for something?

Cheers

So I found the problem today. It was the aftermarket 7 pin connector the previous owner put in the box. The 12v positive wire was corroded and almost cut in half in the harness where they joined in. New splice and good to go. One question though about the 12v to the connector. Is it supposed to be always hot? (12v) all the time? I thought it would have been switched with the key. Let me know your thoughts!!! Thx
